Josh Howard for Bargnani, Parker, and Graham?

Post#1 » by damadmonk » Sat Jul 12, 2008 4:31 pm

Would another Dirk help this team to the next level? Would this trade make sense for the Mavs?

Josh Howard

for

Andrea Bargnani
Anthony Parker
Joey Graham
Future 1st round draft pick

I think this trade works out well for the Mavs because they get a potential next Dirk, get and get players who come off the books next year. Parker is a three point shooting machine. $7 million would come off the books next year.

If Bargnani is the next coming of Dirk, the match up problems would never end with both on the floor.

The Mav's aren't getting any younger and need some youth on this roster. As well, the luxury tax is killing them.

What do you guys think?

I don't know. Value-wise, it's close. But we won't be able to compete with the poor swingman rotation. If AW turns out a starter, I can withstand. Maybe you should ask this question again next February. We're still looking for Ron Artest right now.

I would do that in a second. You think the Raptors would go for something like that? Parker is a great shooter. Bargnani will be a good player. And you expect that Toronto would give us a 1st round pick as well. I think you are dreaming.

I don't think the swingman would be too much of an issue...if you have Terry guard the opposing teams PG, Kidd/Parker the SG/SF...

Mavs easily pass.

There is not one piece coming back to Dallas that is even half Howard's talent.

If Bargnani is the next coming of Dirk, the match up problems would never end with both on the floor.
He's not even close to that. That comparison died over a year ago.

I would want a little more of an impact player back if we are giving up Josh and if that trade goes down we lose a pretty good starting SG/SF and none of those guys we get back are probably in starting line up even after the trade. So I would probably pass too.

I would think about it... There would not be anything to think about if Toronto didnt have the future 1st in there though.

What about Josh Howard and Stackhouse for Ben Gordon and Andres Nocioni?

I rather keep Josh and give him a chance to get back to his allstar form than trade him for these ludacrus offers. **** Toronto and even more the Bulls who think they can grab him for their scrubs and busts.

No thanks, i rather keep the 2nd option that got me into the finals!

If the Mavs were blowing it up and rebuilding, this kind of deal might be OK.

But it would put the current Mavs team in the lottery. And I don't think that is Cuban's goal.

^Yep.

And even if we were rebuilding, I think Dallas will be able to get much more. Graham is a filler. Parker would be basically just expiring if we were rebuilding at his age. Bargnani and a late 1st isnt enough since Andrea has been disappointing so far. Howard still is a 20-PPG scorer entering his prime.

No f'n way. Awful value for Josh Howard. The only reasonable value for JHo is Calderon and then it would have to be a 3 way deal
