Hey guys my friends and I were in a 3 on 3 basketball tournament today. I just thought I would share with you guys how it went. First my team came in 3rd place, and yes I am blaming it on the officials. The officiated games I have ever seen in my life. Half the time the ref was asking the scorekeeper what to call. Let me give you a quick rundown of the rules and I will tell you about the games. No player could foul out but once a team reached 7 fouls they other team would get one foul shot and the defensive team would get the ball. After a team reaches 10 fouls the other team gets one free throw and the ball. Ok, so here is how the games went. The game was to 16 or 20min depending on what came first. It their was a tie after 20 min the teams would go into sudden death overtime. The first team to score a basket wins.
Game 1:
We had to play this team called "The Jr.s". Their were some questionable calls but what really pissed us off in this game was the scorekeeper. The game was tied at 10-10 with a 1:30 left and my team scored 2 quick baskets. So the score should be 12-10 with my team up. Unknown to us the scorekeeper was giving the points to the other team because he was paying attention. So all of sudden the other team scores a basket and he gives it to us and I looked at the scoreboard and the score was 12-11 with other team up. So I was like " How are they up 1? We were up 2 and they scored one basket." then some from the other team said "Yeah, you guys are up one." So I was try to get the scorekeeper to correct it. Then one other players on the other team said "Well that is the official score, you can't change it now." and the ref agreed with him. So my teammates and I were pissed and we were arguing for our point. Then I grabbed my teammates and was like " Forget about it, we got 45 sec and were going to get that point back and win just because of that." So the other team has the ball and the guys drives and jumps into my team who is just standing there and the ref calls a foul. So you teammate is mad and yelling at the ref as the guy goes to the line to take a free throw (it was the 7th foul). The guy misses the shot and yell out " The Ball don't lie. " So we got the ball back and i flashed out the to the free throw line, got the pass , and the shot. I hit it and tied the game. The game went to sudden death overtime. My team had the ball and my teammate took the shot and it missed but I got the rebound and went back up and put it in for the win. After I hit the shot I grabbed the ball and slammed it and yelled "Game!" and walked off the court. Then my friend grabbed me and was like "Let not get a technical"
Game 2:
We had to play this team the Blue Devils. The same bull was called by the ref. They would run into one of us just standing there and they would call a foul. But there were two things that really pissed me off with this game. The first was when my teammate went driving to the basket the defender just reached over and caught his arm and slammed my teammate to the floor. This happened right infront of the ref and he said no foul. So i was pissed with no call and the other team got the ball. So when the other player went to take a shot I ran up to him and jumped up and got his shot, sent it back, and yelled "Get this S**T out of here." Then the officials were like "Calm down and watch you language." I was like "No, if you don't call the foul they did on my teammate, then I will take it out on them. It is that simple." The other thing that pissed me off was the player on the other team would drive, jump into my teammate, the ref would call the foul, the player took another dribble, then would take the shot, and the ref would call continuation. He did this for 7 strait plays. After the third time that the ref called continuation I said to him sarcastically " I thought continuation was when the player was fouled, stopped dribbling, and then hit the shot? Not fouled, take another dribble, and then hit the shot." After I said that the ref paused and then said " Well it still continuation." I couldn't believe it, he know that it was not continuation and still kept calling it. The other team got 7 points off of that. We ended up losing by 2 points. The game was so badly officiated that the players from other team were tellig us they were BS calls .
Game 3.
We had to play this team called "Dem Christian Boyz OGs" ( yeah we laughed at their name too.). The main thing that go on my nerves in this game was that it was not being called even. When the player from would post me up and they would pass the ball to him. I would jump up above him enough that i could use my reach to knock the ball away from his hands. Now I was not on his shoulder or climbing on his back. Everytime I did it the ref would call an over the back foul. If he was going to call that it's ok, but call it when the other team does it too. Everytime the other team did it to me he never called it. In fact one play, I went up to get a rebound and the opposing player climbed on my shoulder causing me to lose the rebound. This was right infront of the ref and he called nothing. (understand we had the same ref for every game) The other thing he never called were moving screens ( this was also true in game 2) and it resulted in one of my teammates getting hurt. One of the guys on the other team came out to set a screen to free his man, but he was still moving. My teammate and him banged knees. The good news is that my teammate was ok and could still play. Also good was the fact that the ref was so focused on my teammate laying on the ground hurt that he did not see that I fouled the crap out of the player driving to the hoop. We ended up getting away with the foul, they were arguing with the ref, and we ended up getting back ball. Thou they should have had the foul called against them for the moving screen. The other thing the ref kept doing in the game is call me for 3 seconds. I got on him because he tried to call me for one when the ball wasn't even inbounds yet. But other team's player was camping out in the lane and not getting called for it. So on of the plays, when the player that I was guarding got the ball in the paint i started counting. I was like "1,2,3,4,5" then finally the ref called him for it. The next played he was camping out again. So started counting again. Got him called for it again. In this game we were down 12-11 and we got the ball. It hit the hook shot and was fouled ( their 7 foul) so i went to the line and missed the free throw. That was the play when my teammate got hurt. The ref called out on the other team after I fouled the player driving ( yeah another bad call but i didn't complain). My teammate drove the ball to the hoop hit the shot and was fouled. He went to the line (their 8th foul) and he hit the shot. So now it was 14-12. Then I got a put back and we won by 3.
Game 4.
This was the game before the championship. We had the same ref again. We were playing this team called the "Iornflag". Besides the ref calling ticky tack fouls that were piss both sides off. One of the big plays that pissed us off was on a missed shot my teammate and a guy on the other team went after the ball. The guy from other team knocked the ball out. The scorekeeper and everyone on the sidelines said the other guy knocked the ball out. Even the guy on the other team said he knocked the ball out and the ref still called it out on us. Now we were down 2 in this situation with less then a min left. We were trying to come back. We ended up losing by 4. So how bad was the officiating i this game? It was so bad that the player on the other team cam up to us and said "You guys had some Bulls**t calls called on you". That is how bad it was.
But all in all we still had a good time. We just were mad at the ref and scorekeeper. How you enjoyed my story.

Not really. We were happy that we won game one and were able to overcome the crap with the scorekeeper. When we lost to the Blue Devils, it just wanted to get them back because i felt we were robbed. But they were eliminated in the game before us. Yeah the refs did get on my nerves because of the bad call and the fact that they weren't calling the game even, but overall we had a good time.

Yea in every tournament like dat Ive been in the refs normally blow hard. Its even worse when you have the "Call your own foul" tournaments though. Youd be puttin a beat down on some clowns an they would start sayin everything was a foul.
