Trade Rumor - Indiana - Miami

Post#1 » by MillerTime101 » Fri Jul 11, 2008 6:10 pm

Although the Pacers are looking to dump point guard Jamaal Tinsley, the only Heat interest would come after a buyout from the Pacers, or if Indiana would be willing to take on Marcus Banks' contract in return.

Not sure we have a need for Banks but we sure do have a need for Tinsley being off this team.

:offtopic: BTW I just joined today, been reading this site for about a year, been a pacer fan all my life. Sadly talking Pacers ball since Reggie left has been depressing and I felt no need to partake. Now Larry Bird has put together a team I can actually cheer for and be excited about. Ive always said I would rather have a young team that plays hard and loses then a veteran team that doesn't show up and finishes 500.

Didnt want to get to off topic, just wanted to say whats up to everyone that posts here.

Welcome aboard! Nice to have a long time reader join us. Hope you stay active and if you have any questions, just let us know!

I'm not going to say we have a need for Banks anymore, but i don't have the link because it was a while ago, but i do remember seeing Pacers did have interest in Marcus Banks. Honestly, i'd do it. The guy is a bust offensively and won't help us much, but he's great defensively. He's a shutdown guard that we can put into the game in garbage time and not worry about the opponent making a massive comeback on us. We won't get much for Tinsley as is....

A straight up trade for Banks doesn't work. I messed around with trade checker, I think a trade for Marcus Banks and Haslem for Tinsley and Marquis Daniels is perfect. We get rid of a pair of semi-talented trouble makers who would make good backups for Miami, and we get a new starting PF, and a slightly more tolerable bad contract in Banks. I don't expect to see this actually happen but it would be awesome.

It actually does work, Miami could use their trade exemption to cover the 2 mill in salary difference. grang33r is right, it doesnt do much for us but im not sure we can get a better deal, it beats buying him out IMO.

though i hope the harrington tinsley trade is still a possibility. i would do this in a heartbeat for 3 reasons.
1. it instantly saves us 2-3 mil a year
2. we would actually be able to trade banks as an exp eventually.
3. anything that sends out tinsley makes me happy
Honestly id send him home before id buy him out.

You can't combine Trade Exceptions with players to make a salary work.

I would do that deal in a heartbeat, though I don't have a great deal of use for Banks.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

I would do it too in a heartbeat. Banks would rot on the bench, but at least he would rot and not get into a bunch of trouble off the court.

If we could make a deal for Banks that revolved around Tinsley, I would do it with no second thought. I think buying him out is most likely going to be quite pricey for the product and Banks sure beats that. He can play lockdown D. His offense is nothing to be proud of but he is extremely quick and has that D.

Any move to break up Tinsley's contract is a good move imo. The Pacers are now set at PG.

Other then filling a need at the PG spot....trading for Tinsley does not fit into what Riley is trying to do with freeing up SalaryCap space for the 2010-2011 Free Agent market.

If anything...it makes the situation worse for them by swapping out Banks for Tinsley.

I don't see how this is a rumor anyways. It basically is discounting a Miami-Indiana rumor while leaving open a slight possibility...

I'd do that in a blink, don't think miami would, because of jt's last yr, yeah they could buy that out but why? I'd perferr the Al Harrington and a s&t of kleenex Bazooki for JT and Daniels and a conditional #1 pick. Al has a player option for 2009-10 so look for him to have a great season and then opt out we get big savings and Bazooki to boot. Or we could just trade Al half way into the next season, ehhh maybe not. :D

From a Heat perspective I dont want anything close to Daniels. Question though, is Foster in ur starting lineup?? uz I would def consider a trade of Haslem/Blount for Tinsley and Foster...thoughts??

I'd do Haslem\Blount for Foster\Tinsley, I'd pass on the Banks deal though.

If I was Bird, and Riley called me up offering Haslem and Blount for Foster and Tinsley...I pause for about 5 seconds, hang up the phone, and block Riley's number. I am all for packaging an asset like Williams or Foster with Tinsley to get rid of him, but not for a knucklehead like Blount and Haslem.

what would MIA do with Jason Williams and Tinsley? They still got Quinn and Chalmers. If they do this trade theyr going to have Williams, Tinsley, Quinn and Chalmers. We're going to have Ford, Jack, Diener, and Banks. Both teams will have 4 PGs

Indiana wouldn't do this trade for Banks, they would do it to get rid of Jamal. My guess is that we would see Marcus in a suit for much of the year.

White Chocolate is a free agent, and its not likely he re-signs with Miami.

Recent reports says Miami turns down a deal of Haslem for Tinsley. I think the Pacers should sweeten the deal to entice the Heat.
