but at the end of the day, it all boils down to conditioning and the desire to play basketball
its ok to break some rules once in a while...

If I lost 50 pounds, worked out,got a killer bod and won a couple of lotteries,I could date supermodels too.
Francis's injuries have killed his explosiveness,he's never had a sweet shooting stroke and 2 teams gave up on him being a PG who could feed a big man. Every yr since the Magic dumped him on NY,he's given the same speech-he's matured,he understands how to be a NBA PG,yada, yada, yada.
The Rockets brought him back to be the starting PG,tried to hand him the job,and even had a trade worked out that would have sent Rafer packing. Francis rewarded that faith by showing up out of shape. He was so bad in camp he couldn't even beat out MIke James for the back-up spot and was unable to take minutes from Head at the back-up SG.
I consider not getting rid of Francis once it became clear he wasn't going to beat out Alston Morey's biggest mistake to date.(We don't know how much CD played a part in the Francis fiasco but I have a hunch CD was instrumental.) Francis' continued presence on the roster forced the Rockets to cut Green when the Rockets had to bring in Woods for Yao.(Harris knew the system from camp,Green didn't. Bye-bye. Altho in all likelihood Green would not have made the team this yr,if the team had been able to watch him in practice for rest of season, who knows what they might have decided.)
Francis is done and his limited value is as an expiring contract. Unfortunately he will continue to soak up a roster spot and eat up cap space until he's traded or bought out,or B-Ball Gods willing,is declared medically unfit and the NBA agrees to a medical exception.

Remember Francis as Stevie Franchise, rising high to throw down on some poor soul.
Steve Francis is nothing but a memory now.

He is through. There is no chance he comes back to his old form. We have Rafer, Bobby and Brooks so I doubt Steve gets PT anymore.

Houston Suns,
Sorry to irk you,but...
You stated if he would come into camp in shape,if he'd work out,if he'd commit to being a team player. They're just as likely as me winning lotteries and dating supermodels. He had his chance last yr and blew it. He has had several injuries that have crippled his once great athletic ability. Francis has to completely rework his game if he wants minutes on the Rockets and there is no sign that he's capable of doing so. I heard/read as recently as beginning of last month he was rehabbing nicely and expected to start working on his conditioning and his game soon. In other words,he's still recovering from injury and has only a few months to remake his game.
You have faith in Francis,I don't. I would love to be wrong, but history suggests I'm not.

Hope may spring eternal, but realistic evaluation and planning wins the war.

Houston Suns, I fail to see how your post countered tisbee's post, you basically just said he was wrong and dumb - not a good argument. I share the same pessimism as tisbee, and it's inspired by 4 years of dismal performance preceeded by 5 years of poor performance on the part of Francis.

APG doesn't measure a basketball player's passing ability any more than home runs measure a baseball player's value to his team. Francis has never been able to pass and has always had a low [basketball] IQ.

It's great that you feel he's wrongly accused for whatever reason, but he's never shown any reason to feel otherwise aside from having once been touted as a superstar.
Morey 2020.

Q:How are they experts when they're always wrong?
A:Ask a stock market analyst or your financial advisor
