Wizards/Nets proposed trade

Post#1 » by AgentOvechkin08 » Sun Jul 13, 2008 5:51 am

Wizards fan here.

How would you feel about this cap space clearing trade, cuz you guys are eying 2010 for lebron james.

Wiz trade: Etan Thomas, Antonio Daniels, Deshawn Stevenson, 09 1st, conditional 1st round pick via memphis

Nets trade: Vince Carter, Marcus Williams

You guys get almost 17 million dollars in 2010 expiring contracts, and a 3 pretty decent vets. Antonio IMO is the best backup in the league and would benefit d harris.

What do guys think?
GO SKINS
GO WIZ
GO CAPS

GO DC BABY

Come one thats just bad not one single young player thats just bad. Especially since picks so early don't have the greatest value .

dammit we cannot trade Vince for 4 players. We have 16 under contract not including Nenad. Only way we'll ever trade Vince is if we do a 4-5 for 1 like we did to acquire Vince so we can clear some roster spots. Vince is NOT getting traded for that damn reason this offseason.

Why does everybody think they're getting Carter for free? We are rebuilding but we still need butts in the seats!!!

Declined. One of the things to consider, as Prelude hinted at, is that the Nets aren't going to take back more players than they send out in any trade they make (unless all of the players they take back are young promising players).

how would you feel if it was Nick Young instead of Stevenson (and the picks removed, adjusted downward or delayed)? Young would be the offensive young 2 yall would need, a truly uncanny ability to score, a great, lively and fun loving personality, a ton of potential and amazingly coincidental initials for the brooklyn move. [if you want the pick (which doesnt have to be in 2009) then add one of the youngins (either williams, boone or williams)]

to sum up, that would be 1) extremely good backup veteran point to tutor devin that is a fantastic lockerroom addition 2) a brawny borderline starter quality center big on community involvement and 3) a fun loving offensive shooting guard with a ton of potential. all of whose contracts help the big event. you'd have two years to develop the youngins and blood the bigs all while being reasonably competitive. in exchange you lose someone who isnt going to help in the long run and has a habit of being a bit moody (how does he feel about the rebuilding?).

that's a pretty solid offer, no?
Until Grunfeld goes there is no rebuild.

I really like Knick Young and can see the value of Antonio Daniels but Etan Thomas is just a deal breaker. I'm already kind of pissed that the Nets have the amount of big men that they do.

^^^^ Everyone thinks they can get Vince for nothing that's what's up. Dammit people do some research. We have a full roster which means we need to send out more than we're taking back in terms of roster spots. I've wanted to kill some people in the trade forum for this reason over the past 2-3 weeks.

No way is Carter leaving just for "pieces." I mean, you give us Etan Thomas? Tell him to retire and stick to poetry.

Carter is not getting traded this season unless he DEMANDS it. Even with that, WE WILL GET an expiring and a quality young guy. The only young guy that interests me on the Wizards is Blatche because he has a lot of upside and has a small but long contract. You guys would also be so damn far over the lux tax for a long time it'd be pointless too. Almost your entire salary cap would be between Habachi, Vince, Crayon and Twan. Just a pointless move.
