What about JJ getting playing time as a backup PG

He is a good passer and can bring the ball up the court.  We are huring at PG.  Why not give him a chance to fill that role?

Why is this brought up so much?

This makes about as much sense as Auggie getting playing time at backup PG.

If Redick gets around 10 minutes of PT at PG per game, then during those 10 minutes, the opposing PG will score about 15 points.

I don't see how it is rediculous? He brought up the ball a duke. As long as he has a low Turnover ratio and can dribble and pass I don't see how is couldn't work. I mean we played Dooling at backup PG and he can't pass or shoot as good as JJ.....Bringing the ball up the court I would say they are about equal there.

When I say he brought the ball up at Duke I am not saying all season but at times during games he would bring the ball up....Everyone at one time was going for Turk bring the ball up and Grant hill at one time as a point forward.

So are you saying nelson is a better defender then reddick? I have never heard anyone in here call nelson an adequate defender...

this isnt college...and Nelson is a better PG defender than Redick is, was or will be...Redick doesnt have the ability to keep up with over half of the guards in the league...end of story...

Heck No! He can not dribble, defend or pass. No way. Just trade him b/c I am tired of hearing about him all of the time.

well I dont know about his dribbling, his passing is fairly decent though, he's connected with Dwight on several occasions and has made some decent passing decisions if I can remember right (Bucks game)...but he's not NBA pg material...

How can you say nelson is a better PG defender without even getting to see Reddick get a decent amount of playing time. You are making statemewnts without the proof to back it up. He is a good dribbler and passer. As soon as we trade him we will see what we let go.

pretty easily really, I watch these guys pretty closely, and I know that I dont need to see him at the point to base my decision...JJ Redick will not play point for any team in this league, if he's a liability at the 2, how could he possibly hand with the 1? preposterous idea...

The third year where this is discussed?

Redisck lacks ball-handling skills is a recurring theme!

The question isn't whether he can bring the ball up or pass the ball well, it's whether he can stop the man in front of him. regardless of being a PG or a SG he can't. But the difference is can he score more in his time on the floor than the man he's guarding? Because if he can, then his liability is less of a deal than his scoring potential. And we ALL know he produces when he's on the floor. That is and never will be a question.
