OJ Mayo (against the Hornets)
15 Points - 3 Rebounds - 5 Assists - 3 steals - 1 block
8 Turnovers - 4 personal fouls

I am really happy Portland didn't keep Arthur

I'm just saying but, Skita looks really good in the summer league too.

I really thought Mayo would tear up the Lakers, that squad has nothing. 0 ast 6 TO. He is still shooting a good percentage, especially from three. Even hough it is just Summer League I'm glad Mayo isn't averaging like 34 a game or something.

Brewer did not impress me that much yesterday. I know it's one game but meh.

Bayless...ugh, I hope he will always be a shoot first PG

Wish we had Carney, Pekovic, and Smith playing, that was embarrassing (I believe Smith can't though because of contract issues).

Brewer will be fine. He showed some tools he did not have last year. He just needs to know when to use them. His ballhandling looked miles away better and he showed some confidence in his jumper. When he gets in the flow and understands himself as a 4-5th option he will look fine. His interior passing was nice as well.

Summer league showcases scorers. Sad enough many of those scorers do not translate to the nba level. Because of the lack of discipline-defense-practice the other tools of a player are not exposed in the summer league. What I mean is that a scorer will look good being the scorer in summer league, but when the season starts he will struggle. The part of Brewer's game that he needs the work on is his scoring, so let him jack 20 shots on a team with mankato state guard play just to work some kinks out.

I'm not sure I'll get to see what I want to see from Brewer in summer league. I could care less if he looks like crap when he's the first option on offense, trying to blow by his man and do other things he'll never do in an NBA game. What I really want to know is can he hit the wide open J. That, and transition, is where all his offense should come from/

Its not that he got by his man, its that he was 2-3 steps by his man before he messed up at the rack. Even at "non nba" starter level the summer league kids are serious athletes not guys that should be beaten by a few steps by anyone. Im not saying that brewer should or could be 1st lor 2nd option on offense but judging from how vastly superior he was compared to the players in summer league I want to see if he can replicate that vs nba starters if he can...uh i dunno what to say. His D is already at a high level, but judging from this game his O could become even better. He needs to finish way better but Imna really watch him for the first 1/2 of the season. Cant wait for the 2nd game.

Brewer is gonna be frustrating because he has so many tools and just does not use the proper ones yet. His ballhandling looked much better. Love got him twice very nice in transition and Brewer was rebounding and pushing the ball very well.

The issues right now are guard play. Brewer wont get many spot up open jumpers in SL because of the guard play.

But I feel ya Bruceallen, I think brewer has scratched the surface of what he can do. Remember last year how much better he played with Foye in the SL? I wonder how well we will do this year when he has love/Jefferson/miller/foye. I think Brewer's passing could be a good weapon this year.
