I believe several of those guys are signed or will be signed by other clubs...
not anyone particularly intriguing there...
IMO a good option for backup point guard would be to flip the Jazz first round pick to Memphis for Lowry or Crittendon, using the TPE from the Gerald Green trade...
Memphis doesn't have minutes for at least one of those two with Mayo and Conley doing the ball handling...surely they would let one go for a 2009 first...
thoughts?

Barry accepted the biannual exception with houston, so i would assume all these players could've be landed with the exception as well.

16.90 Brent Barry G [P]-----------signed with Rockets already, so no

15.78 Sam Cassell (TOT) PG---------no, not him again...go play with KG u ET

14.28 Keyon Dooling PG------good, get him

12.99 Carlos Arroyo PG-----------not if he demands less

12.97 Anthony Carter PG-----rumored to remain in Denver, wouldnt mind him came bac to the wolves

12.86 Jason Williams PG-------------attitude problems, but quality backup

12.66 Dan Dickau PG----------shoot first PG, no

12.30 Tyronn Lue (TOT) PG------too short, 45cm shorter than yao, thats unacceptable

12.06 Jannero Pargo PG [P]--------shoot first, don wanna use him as pg

11.72 Juan Dixon (TOT) G-----------not pure pg, too combo

11.21 Anthony Johnson (TOT) PG-------------not too bad, but old

10.12 Earl Boykins PG----------60cm shorter than Yao, Lue can block him,, so no

09.86 Kevin Ollie PG---------nah....cant shoot

09.40 Damon Stoudamire (TOT) PG-----------old

08.94 Lindsey Hunter PG-----------ok, doubt he wanna leave detroit tho

08.85 Darrell Armstrong PG---------has he not retired yet?

07.00 Smush Parker (TOT) PG-----theres a reason why he got renounced

Here's the reason why Cassell belongs to the ETs

Celtics sign E.T. to make Cassell comfortable

BOSTON, MA — In an effort to bolster their depth at guard, the Boston Celtics signed Sam Cassell on Tuesday, less than a week after he was waived by the Los Angeles Clippers. To ensure they did everything they could to make him feel as comfortable as possible in his new surroundings, the team took the unusual approach of also signing a relative of the veteran point guard – first cousin E.T.

“We’ve been eying Sam for a while now, but the idea to sign E.T. didn’t come up until over the weekend,” said Boston GM Danny Ainge. “We were talking about how to ease Sam into the Boston experience; just to make him feel at home, you know? Somebody suggested bringing in a relative, and – actually this is a little embarrassing, because I actually thought Sam was descended from hammerhead sharks, and I was worried about where we’d put the tank at the Fleet Center. But anyway, we got that all worked out and we’re just happy that E.T. was ultimately willing to sign for a lifetime supply of Reese’s Pieces. Turns out that doesn’t even count against our salary cap number, so it’s like a freeroll.”

For his part, Cassell seemed grateful for the chance to be around family.

“Me and E, we’ve always been really close,” Cassell told SSNN. “He’s technically my cousin, but to me he’s more like a brother. We do everything together – like when we were little, we used to scare the hell out of people by levitating, or making our fingers light up. Good times.”

Signing E.T. wasn’t only about making Cassell feel at home, though. SSNN has confirmed that the Celtics’ new addition is particularly helpful in treating injuries, and somehow increases the vertical leap of many Boston players.

“We love him,” said Kevin Garnett. “I was trying to get over this nagging rib problem, and he just touched me with this finger, and all of a sudden, the pain was gone. Then the other day at practice, Big Baby got like a minute and a half of hangtime on a dunk; that had to be Lil’ E. He’s a cool little dude, and faster than you think. I hope he’s found a permanent home here in Boston.”

but to answer your question, I would go with Dickau as he seems like he would fit in best with the club we have assembled and wouldn't command much more than the league minimum

Not sure of the price or if the Bobcats are looking to make a deal...Raymond Felton would be my choice. He has a reasonable contract and with the drafting of DJ Augustin he is more than likely available.

Pargo will go for a lot more than the Bi-annual exception, if you could get him for that, you take it just based on talent level.

I dont really want to sign for any of these guys, knowing that most will want MLE type money. I just dont think we should commit to someone that may tie up our 2010 cap. I like Dooling but he is likely too costly. AC would be ideal, but is likely to stay with the Nugs. Ty Lue possibly. He wont be guarding Yao so i dont see why that is even important for a back up PG.

Dooling is the only FA on that list I would actually spend more than the veterans minimum on. Would consider Dickau, Williams, and Arroyo, but would much rather have Telfair back.

As for trades:
I like Felton as a backup, but not sure what it would take. If Tinsley's deal wasn't for 3 years, I'd look to move Cardinal for him. Looking at his numbers he's a 10 and 7 guy with just a shade under 40% shooting from the floor and with Indy likely releasing him he's actually a better option in my mind than a lot of the other FAs. Would love Jarrett Jack, interested in Lowry, Marcus Williams, and Delonte West (unlikely to go).

The Magic are hoping that free agent guard Keyon Dooling will agree to a two-year deal worth roughly $1.9 million per season to remain with the team, according to The Orlando Sentinel.

3 years, 7 mil. I'd do it.

How about we get one of the Houston guards? We have always liked Head. (*token giggle) They only have a million

Bobby Jackson
Rafer Alston
Steve Francis
Luther Head
Brent Barry
Aaron Brooks

They just signed Barry, and they like Alston. It might be easy to get Head or Brooks. We have spoken about Head before and he seemed legit before being lost in the rotation last year.

http://www.realgm.com/src_playerfile/1104/luther_head/
10ppg 2.4apg, 3.1rpg 44.3% 3pt in 27 min in 80 games. He is also very athletic. He is not a pure pg by any means, but brings a lot of tools.

Updated list

16.90 Brent Barry G [P]-----------signed with Rockets already, so no

15.78 Sam Cassell (TOT) PG---------not fitting into the current Twolves team

14.28 Keyon Dooling PG------offered the biannual exception by Magics, but now they signed A.Johnson so I think we have lots reasons to go after Dooling with our exceptions or even a bit more

12.99 Carlos Arroyo PG-----------again, not if he demands less

12.97 Anthony Carter PG-----rumored to remain in Denver, but would provide positive veteran leadership to wolves

12.86 Jason Williams PG-------------attitude problems make me say no

12.66 Dan Dickau PG----------shoot first PG, no

12.30 Tyronn Lue (TOT) PG------deciding between Celtics and Suns, so no way he goes to the wolves

12.06 Jannero Pargo PG [P]--------shoot first, don wanna use him as pg

11.72 Juan Dixon (TOT) G-----------not pure pg, too combo

11.21 Anthony Johnson (TOT) PG-------------signed by magics

10.12 Earl Boykins PG----------no defence at all

09.86 Kevin Ollie PG---------nah....cant shoot

09.40 Damon Stoudamire (TOT) PG-----------old

08.94 Lindsey Hunter PG-----------ok, doubt he wanna leave detroit tho

08.85 Darrell Armstrong PG---------has he not retired yet?

07.00 Smush Parker (TOT) PG-----theres a reason why he got renounced

so overall I think Dooling is our best choice out of the FA market now, however Telfair would be a priority over anyone on the list, trading McCants to north Carolina for R. Felton makes sense too, if the Bobcats are so high on Augustin they might'd work on such a trade...
