JJ or Bogans?

Post#1 » by euromagic » Mon Jul 14, 2008 3:43 am

Who would you rather keep on your roster.....

Bogans:

Decent allround player
Average Defender
Can hit the open 3
Not much of a midrange game

JJ

Can shoot the lights out
Liability on defense
Slighly undersized at the 2spot

I'd rather keep JJ and use him as a 6th man..... I think he has more potential to bring an offensive spark off the bench than Kebo.....

Your thoughts?

neither, a backup PG would be nice

on a serious note, Bogans is more versatile and has more trade value so trade him.

I think i prefer Bogans being gone more than JJ. Although Bogans is prob the more valuable player for us.

Bogans is without a doubt the better player, but this (coupled with him still being fairly young) also means he has more trade value. If trading him is what it takes to get Crittenton or another good young backup PG with starting potential than we shouldnt hesitate.

JJ is ok. I dont think he will ever be more than an 8th or 9th guy.

The fact that we drafted in Courtney Lee, an SG who's a better all around player than him doesn't help his case to get any backup minutes.

Trade JJ and other assets (rights to Fran/future pick) for as good as back up PG as we can get.

Keep Bogans cause he can play two positions and his expiring contract could help in resigning Hedo next summer or be packaged with Battie's (and/or Hedo's, I hope not) for a potential bigger trade at the deadline.

honestly who ever will bring us the highest value while most would say Bogans, its in the eye of the beholder and some team may like that JJ is younger and more of a pure shooter

we need to trade at least one of them tho no doubt

Keep JJ without question. I still think he can at the very least be a solid guy to bring off the bench and score points kinda like a Eddie House.

Blowgans is a vastly superior SG. Redick has a sweet shot, and will probably survive in the league based on that alone, but Bogans has more value to the team and probably more value on the market. We should trade whichever guy nets us the most in return, or trade both if the situation demands it.

From today's O-Sen:
Smith has been working the phones, and apparently, two of the team's four shooting guards — Keith Bogans and J.J. Redick — and power forward Brian Cook are being offered in trade scenarios.

This implies that Bogans is better trade bait. I probably agree.

But as to trading both, the Magic would then be two thin at the wing. The SG depth chart would be only Pietrus and Lee, and the SF depth chart is only Turkoglu (although a score of minute here will come from the PF depth chart). It would be tough for the Magic to trade Redick and Bogans unless another wing player is obtained.

i think Bogans would have appeal to contending teams, because he's a solid backup. but for teams that are young and have a chance to farm young talent, JJ could still intrigue them. i'm sure many people wonder how many points the kid could go off for in a night if given his shots. maybe a team like Charlotte, Portland, Milwaukee, New Jersey, Seattle, Memphis could all find JJ's potential to be a draw card.
