OT; Possible Move to Houston

Post#1 » by TheseusToros » Mon Jul 14, 2008 4:11 pm

Hey fellow Real-GM's,

I am a recent college graduate from the state of Michigan and considering our lack-luster economic times, I am thinking about moving to Houston. I have vistited the Houston area once and became under the impression it was a nice place to live, with a fairly good job market. I will be looking for a position in Sales/Promotions and I was just curious to hear any input, tips, or suggestions from those who live in the area.

Things Iam taking into consideration;
Job Market
Cost of living
places to live
community life etc

Thanks for the help,
Much appreciated

Funny thing, I don't live in the Houston area. I used to, but not any more.

Maybe another poster can answer that question for you.

Job market is very sound here. There are several Oil and Gas companies naturally, but we also have HP, Texas Instruments and several fortune 500 companies here. If you cant get a job in Houston and you have a degree you just dont want to work. A good company site is Baker Hughes, Smith Internationa, Halliburton, Schumberger, are to name a few. Good luck.

Rockets need a backup SF. How's your jumpshot?
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

I read the same article. I'd say the job market in Houston is one of its' major pluses, along with its extremely low living costs for such a large city.
