Not really surprised......

He was a good (not elite or great) pass rusher/freelancer who depended mainly on his athleticism and explosiveness. He never learned to be a complete Linebacker

this is another piece of proof of how the NFL is getting away with murder.

the lifespan of an NFL player is very very short.

so when fans jump on those players who get upset about being franchised tagged, or asked to take less but dont, in the grand scheme of things...it doesnt make sense.

long term high paying contracts happen as a matter of timing. sometimes luck. when your a hot commodity on the market, and a free agent, you get the bucks.

but when your a rookie and get handcuffed with a 5 year contract, you may get hurt in your 5th. damaged goods by your 4th. franchised for a 6th and even 7th. and done while in your 20's.

i hope for the best for this guys future in whatever he does.

For the life of me I cannot find any link to an official retirement announcement. All I see is speculation he may retire.

Supposedly he's trying to cash in on insurance money, saying that his Achilles snapping caused him to retire. If that's the case, he gets his entire contract paid lump-sum, which is whatever is left of his $49M deal (from his insurance, not the Giants who cut him). At least that's what the good folks at PFW are saying.

Not really....he was an idiot before the injuries. He does not know how to play in a defensive scheme, he's a freelancer. He had a few good years but he was a bust or at the very least a huge dissapointment(he was hyped to be Lawrence Taylor around the time he was drafted)

Good suggestion! It would be nice if he tried that, but he probably only knows how 2 be in a 4-3 scheme only. Try 2 extend someone's career in a way like some cb's do in their later career. Move to safety.

Poor guy. I'll look for him in the bread line.

Wish I could retire at the age of 29 and live the rest of my life on the millions I had made and a fat pension like the nfl has. But then again, my employer doesn't "get away with murder" like that, so I'll just keep working.
