Kind of hard to believe Clippers would want a 34 year old center when then they can go after Okafor

Well it would cost us less. I would actually welcome it. Camby is a defensive monster, and at the age of 34 he's still damn good. Plus his contract ends the same time Mobley and Thomas' does. Plenty of cap space in 2 years.

I kinda like this idea too. He's 34, yeah, but his defensive abilities are undeniable. Our scoring is taken care of, and Camby provides the low-post D that we desperately need.

I'm all for it.

Camby has been healthy the past couple of seasons (over 90% of possible games played). And he had his best rebounding avg last year (13.1). And as Fishy McFish mentioned, he's off the books in 2 years in time for the coveted 2010 FA class.

If we can give 'em a couple 2nd rounders or even a lottery protected first rounder, let's do it. Also, this still gives us cap room to sign another FA (Childress/Azubuike). Our lineup:

PG - Davis/Knight/Taylor
SG - Gordon/Mobley/FA
C - Kaman/Jordan/Fazekas
SF - Thornton/Thomas/FA
PF - Camby/Powell

Pretty nice...

Yeah you guys are right.. I didn't even take into consideration the cap room in a couple of years..so if this goes through for the Clipps then that will soften the loss of Carlos i mean Elton Brand

I think Kaman and Mobley to Miami for Shawn Marion is the next move that is to be made

What I do like is that he's an excellent help defender (unfortunately a questionable man defender), would help spread the floor, we'd still have a little left over to spend this summer, and he will expire in the summer of 2010 along with Mobley & Thomas. Do I think we'll be players in 2010? Only if we have ridiculous space and overpay someone. Although, we could still use them as assets in early 2010 to teams who are positioning themselves for the Summer of LeBron.

The downside is that we'll be adding another guy who has been fragile in the past and is not getting any younger. It would really depend on what Denver wanted in return.

I love this acquisition. I agree with the above poster that we are extremely fragile now, but we are also much better than we were last year. Camby does a lot of intangibles and can hit from 15 feet out. I think that he will work well with Kaman. He is also pretty good value for around $10mil a year.

I am super excited about next year. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that we can have a healthy season for once. I also hope we resign Livy (for cheap) and pick up another role player.

This is a DREADFUL deal for the Clips..how the hell does no-shot Camby replace the venerable Brand?? He doesn't! Now if the Clips are now gonna trade Camby to NY for Zach, then I see the point. But otherwise this is a garbage decision that leaves LA void of scoring.

What makes you think Brand was our only offense? Did you not see Kaman last season? Thornton? Do you not realized we signed Baron Davis? Drafted Eric Gordon?

i know now you guys would be clogged up front but do you guys still have money?

kurtOn my perspective i think it's a bad choice to land a 34 - year old center in the clippers: :starwars . id rather land in nash he's old but atleast better than camby :banghead:
