Who would you rather have to start a franchise with?

KD

He's a proven 20 ppg scorer and is a 6-9 SG.

Mayo hasn't played a second in the NBA.

Durant extremely easily. I like Mayo, but don't expect him to be much better than someone like Richard Hamilton. I see Durant as a future superstar. Durant has way better size with roughly the same skillset, and has proven way more at every level (incredible freshman season vs. solid but flawed freshman season, NBA ROY vs. hasn't played an NBA game yet).

I understand that Mayo hasn't played a game yet but we can predict both player's future just for the heck of it.

Durant very easily.

How has Mayo suddenly become so damn overrated?

KD w/o hesitation.

He's going to be very, very good.

Durant for sure.

Thank God Mayo went to Memphis. I don't think I could take all the hyping if he went to a team with a big fan base.

Kevin Durant.

I think Mayo is much more of a sure thing than people have proposed, but Durantula's ceiling seems to be much higher, and he's already proved to be a 20 ppg scorer.

I'm not the biggest of Durant fans but even I'm inclined to say that this one is pretty solidly Durant. As the season wore on, his passing measurably improved and he started to take more intelligent shots, get more patient, etc. He's a guy with a fairly clear baseline and lots of room to improve. He's also potentially multipositional.

Mayo is going to be a slightly undersized SG without the skills to be a primary ball-handler ala the Kobe's and T-Mac's of the world, maybe not even ala Vince Carter in New Jersey, we'll see. He's going to be a good scorer but will he be as nasty and versatile as Durant? Durant's a guy who has perennial All-Star potential... Mayo, at least to me and several others to whom I've spoken, seems more like he'll make the All-Star game a couple of times at his peak.

Kevin Durant

I'm not sure how the rest of his game will develop but I believe he will challenge for the scoring title in a few years. He is just so slick on offense. I think he'll be a 30 ppg scorer in his 3rd season.

Mayo's starting to become overrated, he's a great talent and should be a great player in this league but over a proven 20 point per game scorer in Durant that has more potential with his size and mis-match ability he can create, the comparison isn't really close.
