Scottie Pippen to Boston for the rights to Ron Mercer and Chauncey Billups comes to mind.

The Bulls were close to landing the number 3 pick (likely Carmelo) for Jay Williams and the 7th pick, but then Jay Williams got into the motorcycle accident and the whole thing went away.

Iverson to Detroit was insanely close to happening. If you wanna go old school, the Pistons almost traded Sean Elliot for Robert Horry back in the early 90's.

gotta go with the houston/portland one.

imagine MJ and hakeem on the same team. they would have challenged bill russell for the most titles ever.

Kevin Garnett to Phx Suns could of easily happened and i thought it would but Suns management were too stupid not to do it and the Celtics got the better of it.

Correct me if wrong, but Cuban mentioned numerous times that he was interested in trading for Shaq, but not at the expense of Dirk.

I have never heard of the #3 for Jay Williams & #7 rumor ... I'm not calling it bogus, but I have a hard time believing the Nuggets would consider passing on Anthony (or Darko ;-), move down 4 spots -dropping them out of the Bosh/Wade race as well - just to get Jay Williams.

Kwame Brown (#1 overall) to the Bulls for Elton Brand.
Instead the Clippers did it and the Bulls got Tyson Chandler out of it.

There was a rumored Patrick Ewing trade that involved the Pistons (i believe they replaced the Suns). Basically Detroit got back a ton of garbage. Mark Cuban, of all people, stepped in and advised Joe Dumars to back out of this trade. The Mavericks then hooked up Detroit by taking on Loy Vaught, Christtian Laettner and others for Dana Barros, Cedric Ceballos and some other filler.

Yeah Cuban's stance has always been that Dirk is untouchable.

This is true. The Jazz were offered a lot for AK before they got Boozer.

Mark Cuban tried repeatedly to get AK47 from the Jazz. However this was at the time the Jazz were building around Andrei and they considered him "untouchable". I believe the proposed Dirk for AK trade happened before Dirk was an All-Star/MVP.
