The Super Duper "Summer League" Thread

Post#1 » by And 1 Amare » Tue Jul 15, 2008 9:53 am

I checked the first page of this board and couldn't find a SL thread. Is the Summer League not cool enough for us to talk about?

Anthony Randolph (GSW) - 30 points
Donte Green (HOU) - 40 points

OJ Mayo's been doing fantastic as well.

How about Kevin Love, 18 points 13 rebounds. Not bad...

Hickson has an incredible dunk yesterday

Bayless was very impressive
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

28 points on 12 FGA ain't bad...
Dude was ATTACKING yesterday.

His body control and ability to take the hit and finish was impressive.

Batum had a stinkier, but Koponen really came alive in the 2nd half and finished with 19.

Greene's also about the streakiest shooter you'll ever see, and he REALLY needs to cut back on his 3-point shooting lest he become Antoine Walker 2.0.

He has the potential to be great though, and he certainly played outstanding yesterday.

Anyone got the link for streaming games? I'll edit the link into the first post.

I said Bayless would be better than Rose..then i backed down after the tournament and went back to Rose...

That big gap between them was never there...Bayless just has it..he knows how to sell the foul like Wade or Iverson.

Yeah, everytime I look he's at the free throw line. He just runs in there with wreckless abandon to draw the contact. I've seen him get a few of his shots swatted too.

Bayless won't get nearly that many calls in the NBA. 3 reasons come to mind: Way better defense will be played, he won't have the ball in his hand nearly as much, he won't get the same calls. Bayless has had a good SL so far, his ball handling and quickness with the ball has been impressive he reminded me of Tony Parker a bit. His outside shot has been a little disappointing and clearly his play making. Word for Portland coaching staff was they wanted him to look for his shot alot but he also has missed some wide open guys.

oh yea hes not gonna get all those free throws..SL is unwatchable, everything is a foul...but i dont look at his assists as being meaningful, hes playing off the ball..and when hes doubled or trapped hes making the right play

Bayless looked nice. But I agree that he won't be quite as awesome at getting to the line as he appears to be now. From what I have seen, they are just calling waaaaaaaaay too many fouls on everybody right now. I also really liked what I saw from Koponen for Portland. It's too bad Portland's roster is so jammed up, because I would think that means that he'll probably sign a big deal in Europe. But if he finds a home in the NBA, he can be a really solid player.

Good to Douby finally really showing what he can do in this league. I don't know if he'll have a place on my Kings, but he'll eventually catch on somewhere for sure.
