Tinsley To The Bucks?
Hey guys, Bucks fan here - I've been hearing some rumors that the Bucks may have an interest in Tinsley. Frankly, I can't see why because I'm not a big fan, but I've been hearing them and even though they're unconfirmed I was wondering if you guys had heard anything. If Bird is looking for a PF perhaps he'd have an interest in Charlie Villanueva. A trade of:
Villanueva/Charlie Bell/Desmond Mason
FOR
Foster/Tinsley
Would work. Foster would fill a glaring need for the Bucks upfront alongside Bogut. Acquiring Tinsley would open the door for Mo Williams to be traded, which I've heard is a top priority for the team this summer. The Pacers would get a young PF in Villanueva, a solid backup guard in Bell and Mason's $5 million expiring contract.
Thoughts on this?

Re: Tinsley To The Bucks?
bird just said that he was not willing to trade any core players to deal tinsley. i think he would be reffering to granger, dunleavy, ford, foster, rush, jack and hibbert. Which leaves Rasho, Baston, Daniels, Williams, McRoberts, Graham, and deiner. but i would think deiner isnt going anywhere but i could be wrong. i doubt the bucks would want anything i just listed except maybe shawne. i wouldnt be suprised if bird offered up a pick with tinsley though.

Is Foster definitely being viewed as a core player now? That's what I'm wondering. The Pacers traded for Rasho and drafted Hibbert and Bird said they're in the market for a PF. That makes me wonder if Foster is on stable ground in Indiana. I could see the Bucks having a big interest in Foster.

Well I think Rasho will be an exp and nothing more, I dont see him coming back. Also Hibbert is a rookie big so you never know how that would play out. Not to mention Foster is a huge fan favorite. He stands for everything Bird is trying to do. Would the bucks consider Tinsley, Shawne, 2009 1st FOR Charlie, Mason? I know you said it was a priority to be able to move marcus and i think this would allow that and you get a good prospect in shawne. 1st is just to say thanks for taking tinsley.

If their interest in Tinsley is strong that's possible. I haven't been able to find out how strong the interest is. I've just heard from multiple sources there is some interest. Given Bird's comments about wanting to acquire a PF and given the additions of Rasho and Hibbert, it led me to wonder if Foster could become available - and frankly he's the guy I'd want in this deal, not Tinsley. The Pacers look like a team that's rebuilding. Is 31-year-old Jeff Foster really a part of their long-term plans? That's my question. You don't have to sell me on him. I like him a lot. I just wonder if the Pacers may be more inclined to go young. I'm not a big Hibbert fan but if he develops into a decent starter, the Pacers would then have a core of:
PG: Ford
SG: Rush
SF: Granger/Dunleavy
PF: Villanueva
C: Hibbert
That might be something to build on.
Nothing will not break me.

Re: Tinsley To The Bucks?
i think one of the big issues with:
Villanueva/Charlie Bell/Desmond Mason
FOR
Foster/Tinsley
Is that we would have to instantly cut someone loose. The other thing would be that we are absolutly loaded at wing. Granger, Dunleavy, Shawne, Rush, Graham, Daniels, Jack that adding Mason and Bell is just silly. No disrespect. I mean just to have a team interested in Tinsley is awesome and I see what your saying about Foster and his age. I just dont know. Im sure something is there but im not sure what

Re: Tinsley To The Bucks?
Yup, that team would have a lot of wing players. No doubt about that. But Mason, for example, is an expiring so Bird could try and flip him at the deadline if he wanted. Or maybe he'd be looking to deal somebody else like Dunleavy now that he has Rush to go with Granger at SF. As an outsider, Dunleavy does look like a guy the Pacers may want to trade now given how he's coming off a strong season and the Pacers have Granger at SF and Rush (who I like a lot) at SG.
I'm just tossing out an idea given what I've heard about Tinsley. Maybe there's something else but the Bucks don't have much else to offer. I don't see the Pacers wanting someone like Dan Gadzuric and his horrible contract, for example.

Re: Tinsley To The Bucks?
If there is even a small interest by the Bucks I think Larry will find away to get a deal done. I would prefer to keep Foster because like you guys said he is a fan favorite but if the right deal comes along you have to do it.
I would also try and keep our pick next year, it is likely to be a lottery pick and could be a pretty valuable bargaining chip down the road. Instead of a 1st round pick I would try to add Williams and a 2nd round pick or something like that.
It is nice to see at least one team has some interest though.

As soon as I typed that I was thinking this a deal that could get done - assuming the rumors I'm hearing about the Bucks' interest in Tinsley have legs. I'm just trying to make it more palatable for the Bucks because I like Foster a lot more than I like Tinsley.

Re: Tinsley To The Bucks?
wow this trade would be ideal for the Pacers. Charlie V is useless on defense, but to get him for Tinsley would be amazing. I personally would rather trade Foster over Shawne Williams, simply being that Willaims is younger, just like the core of our roster and has more potential (I know no one else sees this). I dont want Mason or Bell in return. We are stacked with PGs and swingmen, theres no need for another. And trading a first rounder pick would be just stupid. We have a young team, we should add younger player, and this means getting players in next years draft.
Does anyone have a link for this rumor? There seems to be a lot of talk about it, yet no actually proof (links)?
This trade would be ideal for us:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/t ... &te=&cash=
Tinsley + Graham + 2nd rounder for Charlie V + Mason (he has one year left on his contract, expirer)
Leaves us with:
Ford/Jack
Dunleavy/Rush
Granger/Williams
Charlie V/Foster
Murphy/Hibbert/Rasho

Re: Tinsley To The Bucks?
It would be ironic to have TJ Ford and Charlie V in the same line-up.... However, I would think that we would want a star-PF. A Murphy/Foster combo is serviceable with what we have now. I would love for us to work a S&T with Charlotte for Okefor in exchanged for Tinsley/Murphy/ and some filler. We would instantly become a contender with a starting line up of:
Ford/Jack
Dunleavy/Rush
Granger/Williams
Okefor/Foster
Nesterovich/Hibbert
GO PACERS!

Re: Tinsley To The Bucks?
if we let baston, rasho, daniels, graham exp, then make foster tinsley for charlie, mason bell trade. we would actually have a lot of cap space to sign a free agent in 2010. but no player wants to sign in indiana. to small of a market. thats over 63 million. and would leave us with
Ford/Jack/Diener
Dunleavy/Rush
Granger/Williams
Murphy
Hibbert
We would need to resign Jack, Granger, and Williams with some of that 63 mil but still.

Unfortunately....Foster is one of those players that could be used as sweetner since he's a solid backup Big Man that doesn't really score...but does the rest of the dirty work that no one else wants to do ( rebound, defend Big Men and score as a 4th/5th option ).
I really don't know if Bird considers Foster a core player....but I can tell you that I don't. He's a favorite of Jim O'Brien and he's our best Low-Post defender now that JONeal is gone and clearly one of the best offensive rebounders in the game....a skill that is highly prized IMHO for a team like the Pacers that shoots and misses a very high volume of shots.
The only way that I would trade Foster is if we got back a Player that does the same things as he does or is included to clearly upgrade our Frontcourt rotation.
CV maybe a good Tweener SF/PF....but he's not worth giving up Foster for..even if it meant moving Tinsley. This doesn't mean that CV isn't a good player....I just think that Foster fills a much greater need.
In all honesty...I would much rather do either of the following:
1 ) Tinsley+Shawne Williams for CV+Charlie Bell ( which I doubt the Bucks would do )
or
2 ) Tinsley for Gadzuric ( the standard Bucks/Pacers trade that everyone always suggest )
