Would you like a proposal of Randolph, DLee and a second round pick for Thomas, Mobley, Jordan and a future lottery protected pick?

I would do something along those lines, if we are able to first at least sign one other guy to an offer sheet (Iggy, etc.) We even have a protected first round pick from Minnesota we can package in.

But I just can't see Donald Sterling opening up his wallet for all these big contracts- Davis, Kaman, Iggy/Smith, AND Randolph? Although in Randolph's case we would be trading salaries.

The main issue for the Clippers is we realistically have 1 salary slot left at $10 million plus, who do we want to use it on? I think Randolph is too big a risk if he is the one major acquisition left this offseason. You may as well throw Smith a max offer and hope/pray the Hawks pass on it.

Knick fan here, I think cgf's proposal is on the right track but still favors LAC.

I'm no Zach fan. Indeed I very much hope our teams can work out a deal. But look at it this way. NYK turned down Randolph for 2nd rounder (or so the rumor goes). In cgf's deal we have the Knicks taking on the salaries of both Thomas and Mobley to preserve your cap room (or save Stirling 32m), plus throwing in David Lee and a future second. In return you guys are only throwing in Jordan and a future lotto protected first. David Lee alone is worth more than Jordan and a future lotto protected first--indeed there were discussions of Lee for the #5 leading up to the draft. I don't think you can expect the Knicks to give up Lee, plus eat 32m salary, and cough up a 2nd rounder here! Take out Lee altogether, or swap Lee-and-the-2nd-rounder for a lesser prospect (eg Mardy Collins) and I think we have a fairer deal.

So what do you guys think about:
Randolph and Collins (or maybe Balkman)
for
Mobley, Thomas, Jordan, 2010 lotto protected first

or to save even more $ this year for LAC they could add in Knight.

Knicks roster gets a little over crowded though w/ too many players under contract, pending buyouts.

so my proposal is
Randolph Collins
for
Mobley, Thomas, Knight, Jordan, 2010 1st (protected)

I think we shouldn't ever touch that deal.

Look, we're helping you out in taking Randolph's crappy contract off your hands, which should make the Clipps the team, that receives a sweetener.

Though, in this deal we'd have to give up a real young big in Jordan and even a first round pick and i just don't like that.

BTW: We'd then also have to start Gordon(who i see being a great 6th man) imediatily, which is something i'm not really in favour of.

All things considered, the only deal that interests me so far is the one that includes David Lee instead of Collins.

Well any chance of the Knicks and Clippers making a deal is officially dead (much to the delight of the vast majority of Clipper fans I am sure) but I disagree. If the Knicks would have done a Randolph deal which featured Cuttino Mobley and Tim Thomas coming back our way it would have been the Knicks who deserved the sweetner. They are only shaving a year off their contract committments, won't feel the impact of such a move for 2 years and giving up the far more productive player who fit a position of need for the Clipps.

If the Clippers players were more useful to the Knicks it would be a different story. As it stands the shooter the Knicks would be getting didn't really shoot all that great last year and don't try to sell a Knick fan on Tiny Tim Thomas. Maybe if the situation where Randolph's contract expired the season after this upcoming year and both the Clippers players were expiring then maybe the Knicks would need to add sweetner. Neither of those situations were the case in this instance and since the Clippers were getting the best player by far who played a position of need they should have given the sweetner.

...and that's why they didn't add anything. Randolph is not worth more "sweetener".

I disagree, but that's another discussion for another time.

I'm just glad we got Camby instead of Z-Bo. Really, really glad.

Love the cambyman, hope he works out with you guys and Kaman can step up as a go to scorer down low, because if he does you guys will be have a very good chance at making a playoff run. Good luck and pity the zach deal fell through, I really felt that he would fit in really nicely with Baron and Kaman there to be the go to scorer and post defender.
