OT- Saw Brian Cook at the RDV Today
It's been a while since I've talked to any of the players, I've seen Dwight at the gym but he's with his trainer, so it was nice to actually see Brian Cook heading towards the cold plunge which I was already in. It took him about 3 minutes to get the courage to go in there, and struggled only staying in for like 2 mins, but I was able to talk to him a little bit. I was reading a slam magazine in the cold plunge and there was the dwight superman picture so i was like hey it's your teammate. You know trying to make him feel important. He laughed a little, I He liked the Anthony Johnson signing. I asked him if he was doing anything special this off-season, he said just working out hard. He looked in pretty good shape, a lot of the fat is gone from his face and his stomach (I was not checking him out, I was doing it so I could report to you guys
) I tried to flatter him by saying how he's a versatile big man who can shoot the three and how he was missed in the playoffs and asked him if he likes SVG's system. He said yes and that he's learned a lot from him like the pick and pop. I also asked about Ewing and he said he's a really nice guy. Cook himself is a very relaxed and chilled guy and said bye to me as he left the cold plunge but it may be to a fault. He has all the talent in the world, but does he have the will power to put it all together? The fact that he only stayed in the cold plunge for like 2 minutes is a little scary when we know he has had injuries the past year. But I think as long as he stays healthy he will be productive.

Sorry to get a little off-topic, but what exactly does the cold plunge do? I've read some of you guys mention it in the past, and I'm a bit curious.
Cool that you got to see Cook and talk to him for a few minutes.

Haha, no. He wanted to get out of that cold plunge as soon as possible. It's funny how the NBA players are wimps when it comes to the cold plunge, it may be because they are really hurt and then the cold plunge feels like pins and needles. I use it after a workout to prevent injuries from happening in the first place, but the times I have used it when I'm actually injured it feels so painful. That's my guess as to why they hate it so much.

Seriously, franchise, all this bumping into Magic players is starting to seem a bit stalker-ish.....
Now answer the following question honestly:
Have you recently purchased a pair of night-vision goggles?

It does wonders for you after a workout to prevent injuries from happening and if you are already injured it does wonders for you as well. Pretty much it reduces the swelling, it's like a big ice pack, but it's a pool full of water at about 48 degrees, so it can get your whole body. Switching back and fourth from the cold plunge and the hot tub is good for your body too because it opens and closes your blood vessels which gives them exercise too (cold water closes the veins and capilaries, hot water opens them).
However, if you have chronic pain the cold plunge will do nothing for you, you should use the hot tub to loosen up your body

Maybe...

Well I usually see the players heading to the locker room and then I go in there and head to the cold plunge because that's all they use in there. But this time I had no idea Cook was there, like i said in the post I was already in the cold plunge when I saw him. Maybe he was stalking me...

a cold plunge is a small pool where the water is kept between 40-55 degrees (I think RDV has the complex plunges at at 50), typically you will see athletes use these after hard practices and games. The normal process is to take a hot shower or use the hot tub and then immediately get into the cold plunge, this process is supposed to effectively numb the joints which will help to elevate pain and prevent swelling and discomfort for say previous injuries or stressed muscles.
Franchise and I are bound to run into one another, I am up there all the time...
I just saw Cookie at Best Buy the other night, he had a few guys with him, he was buying a bunch of DVD's...really nice guy, easy to talk to...probably has a lot to do with small town up bringing...

Haha, I hope your post is being sarcastic, but if not I was just playing around about the checking him out thing dude. Trust me, that's not the reason why he got out.. Jameer Nelson was trying to get into the cold plunge before I was anywhere near it, he was struggling with Rashard in it.
Turkoglu didn't seem to mind having AN OLD NAKED MAN IN THERE! He stayed in there for a while.
It was just Jameer and Brian Cook struggling and through my observations at the RDV, the cold plunge is primarily used by older out of shape people and it's a struggle for the younger more athletic people to stay in there for a while. It's not always that way, but a lot of the time it is.
I am not overbearing with them at all in any way either, if anything I'd say I make it more enjoyable in there because I don't overreact or anything, I'm just carrying on a normal conversation as is common place in the hot tub/cold plunge area with any person regardless of their occupation. I don't ask stupid questions nor do I seem like I'm trying to carve information out of them either. Cook seemed happy I talked to him, maybe by saying good luck to them it means something as well.
And all the players I've talked to have worn shorts with the Magic logo on their shorts/swim gear into the cold plunge, so they obviously want some recognition of who they are.
