James Posey’s agent reports no decisive movement in negotiations for his free agent client as of early tonight. But the Celtics could be in danger in losing another player represented by Mark Bartelstein — Eddie House.
The Celts would love to get House back at a one-year deal for the veteran minimum, but he’s looking
for more money and more years. According to Bartelstein, such offers are currently on the table from other clubs.
This sucks, if true, because it means he's likely on the move. IMO Eddie was as integral part of our team during the playoffs as Posey. When Rondo was struggling, we could either go with Sam I Can't Hit the Broad-Side of A Barn or House. Doc was reluctant to go with Eddie, but when he did, he really came through when it mattered most. He gave us the same sort of hustle intangibles as we got from Posey. It's likely that Atlanta and Cleveland would have been a little easier for us, if Eddie had gotten more playing time. Most importantly, he was a great teammate all year, and never seemed to complain. It would seem like Danny would be more willing to stretch the length of House's deal out past one year, than to give Posey a 3rd or 4th year, since it's for less money, but you never know. The movements this offseason tell me that we're really looking to get younger on our bench. Who's the oldest guy we've had in for workouts?
