Bynum?

I've heard "some" in the media say that Bynum is still unproven and that he only had 30 or so good games under his belt last season. Well, in my humble opinion, not having AB17 in the Finals is the reason why the Lakers lost (especially in such an embarrassing manner).

When AB17 makes his return next season, how do you think he'll perform? I'm guessing he'll be some where in the neighborhood of 18 PPG, 12 RPG, and 3 BPG...

He's going to come back and dominate just as he was doing before he went down.

The numbers you posted can be a possibility, but I doubt it since he'll be playing next to Lamar and Pau, two good rebounding forwards.

i think bynum is still going to get 10+ rebs...gasol isnt a good rebounder for being 7ft

if the team sticks the way it is

AB should wear a protective sleve on his knee just to make sure he is 100 percent or has 100 percent realiable in his knee.

hopefully theres a report soon about his training since he was supposedly cleared and ready to begin workouts mid-july.

There's no ceiling for Andrew as long as he stays off IR.

No this is a good thread. I think he'll be a beast next year as long as he's healthy. He's been quoted as saying he wants the Lakers to challenge the Bulls 72-10 record so he's motivated. I also agree with you on the Finals. I had that same discussion @ the barber shop the other day. I told the guy if AB17 was there that series goes 7 assuming everything else stayed the same. Not because he Superman or anything but in Game 4 with a 24 point lead & Kobe having a sub par game, we would have had an inside presence to protect that lead.

i think 18 and 12 for bynum is a bit of an over estimation...

i think 13 and 10 should be about right for the first half of the season...after his legs are completely under him, add a couple of more points and + a rebound or 2.

this is what bynum brings to the table-

1. pau gasol's assists will double
2. kobe bryant will look to feed inside more
3. bynum will be a huge defensive presence, looking to block a shot and hes very good at not going for the pump fake. his rebounding is stable, and he's always looking to attack the rim.
4. because of bynum's presence, lamar odom(assuming he stays on the lakers) will create the biggest mismatch problems at the 3...whether it be on offense or defense.(which is why i think we should keep him)
5. derek fisher can make it rain 3's with high pick n rolls from bynum because his defender will likely not "switch"-creating matchup problems.(who would want to see deron williams end up gaurding bynum in the post?)

overall i think if we have bynum, lamar odom is our biggest positive contributor...pau gasol will get his and so will kobe. lamar will be the difference maker, which he has been in past playoff games.

Pau Gasol- 18.5 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 2.8 APG
Lamar Odom- 12.5 PPG, 9.0 RPG, 3.0 APG
Andrew Bynum- 13.4 PPG, 10.8 RPG, 2.5 BPG

I don't think his numbers will change much from last season.

Hello gentlemen.
18ppg, double digit rebound and 2.5blks sound about right. I can say that he'll be at around 16 ppg, 12 rebs, 2 blks when the season winds down, but I strongly believe that the ref's will allow him to play a little more aggressively during the season and the playoffs. Come playoff time, I think he'll be at around 20 ppg, 15 rebs, 3 blks.

Great post... My question is: Will the Lakers consider his contract extension at the mid point of the season or after the playoffs?

Why wouldn't they? He turned a corner a few weeks before he was injured and consistently put up better stats. In January he was averaging 17.3 ppg, 12.2 rpg, 2.3 bpg in 29 minutes...AND that's including the game where he was injured and only played for 20.

He was getting double-doubles at half time...so why would he just average 13 and 10.8?

But to say he's not going to average numbers lower than he was capable of last season seems strange to me. Especially since he'll be more developed (if injury free). Also his goal was to be an all-star by his fourth season. He's in a contract year.

Bynum has a lot riding on next season. I don't think he'll put up measly numbers.

He has 80 million reasons to improve.

Next season is the season where he establishes himself as a top two center in this league. He'll be a force to reckon with. Watch him come back and dominate.
