IMO, house is also a crucial re-sign, yet his future in boston isn't looking too bright. he showed all the doubters with his extremely smart ball handling and play making during the playoffs. All I can say is patrick o'bryant, ok. a big with still a decent amount of potential. if clifford ray can't get his ass into gear, no one can. but does anyone look at how young our bench is right now? I think we need to pursue maurbury. I know the guy is a total headcase, but look at moss when he came to the pats, dillon when he came to the pats, winning shuts the mouths of these stereotypical cancers. I think he's a better punch off the bench...IF he can learn how to play off the bench and learn the meaning of ubuntu. Anyway, look for a couple swaps before the trade deadline. I don't think theres too much more we're going to be able to do.

No Marbury, if we're signing a head case we need to grab Ricky Davis. At least Davis has talent and we know what we're gonna get with him.

I say we stick with a young bench, Detroit had a young bench last year and the Lakers had a relatively young one too. I say we get a vet PG (Lue?) and big man (Ratliff?), that way we have a anchor in the post and a smart vet controlling the offense.

There's still a long way to go in the offseason. At this point a year ago, our offseason was also looking fairly unimpressive, despite the trade that sent Ray Allen our way.

An "F"? Really? I don't agree. We lost Posey but Danny was right not to cave on the number of years to an aging role player. Maggette was a pipe dream at the price we were offering. Players like Lue are no big loss either. OBryant is a much better option than Pollard (see dictionary for "Stiff") as he is much younger and has a lot more talent and potential.

There are still plenty of names out there of interest. And Giddens and Walker are unknown stock as of yet.

I trust with our core returning from last year, the experience of a successful playoff campaign under the belt of Rondo, Perkins, Powe and Davis, and the additions Danny will add before training camp we will be just fine.

No way is it an "F". That is ridiculous. He didn't overpay for Posey and we have very limited options when all we have to offer are the MLE and minimum contracts.

I don't get how he's getting a bad grade. There's not that much out there. I knew Posey would go elsewhere, House is replaceable and I think we keep TA. I think he's doing a good job actually for not overreacting/overpaying for Posey and I actually like the PO Box signing (credit to whoever on the board made that up)

Bottom line is that Danny isn't done yet and we still have the MLE.

The Celtics just won title 17 and people still feel the need to bash/criticize Ainge. He let a role player go! Oh my god, you act like he just traded KG for Nene or something. The Cs, as long as they have PGA will be fine. It is summer, maybe it is time for some to get out and enjoy it. Some people just enjoy being miserable.

I completely disagree. Losing Posey is going to be tough, sure. But to give him 4yr/$25M or anywhere close to that wouldn't have been smart for a 31 yr old 6th man. We'll certainly miss his clutch shooting and phenomenal defense (how many charges did he take?), but how effective is he going to be in his age 34 and 35 seasons? He's going to get slower (already not a big strength), has never averaged more than 8 something points a game and has become almost a strict 3 point shooter.

Take a look at John Hollingers latest article regarding the signing, he too thinks the contract given to Posey wasn't smart and goes on to cite some very good reasons why.

Other than Posey, what else would you have like to have seen Ainge do? It's not like we missed out on anyone that people have been clamoring for. Maggette was a pipe dream, Duhon doesn't shoot well enough to be Rondo's backup, and I'm not seeing any other signings that make me wonder why we didnt pursue the player, either for financial or performance reasons.

So far, I can't give Ainge a grade, its an I for incomplete. It's wayyyyy too early to be giving out grades.

The reactionary in me wants to freak out since we've missed out on Maggette and now Posey. You dont want to make any stupid deals though, but at the same time we need to give this team the best chance to win while we have a window for it. Come on Danny!

Looking at this list, I dont think Danny had many options until he straightened out the Posey resigning issue. Now that Posey is with the Hornets, its time for some slim pickings again.

Dont forget, the Celtics didnt sign anyone till after the Garnett deal, starting around August 1st, so Im not shocked that this has taken as long as it did.

I think we still need veterans off the bench at both PG and Wing and maybe a Big:
