Who's Francisco Elson?

The Bobcats are one of 5 teams looking into signing Elson.......what position and how is he?

he's a c/pf. played with the nuggets a few years back and showed some promise. signed with the spurs and kinda got lost behind timmy and co. was traded to the sonics and got lost in the youth movement. he's not bad, not great. he's got a soft touch, from what i remember. he's dutch i think or at least was born there or something.

He's a vet, probably Mohammed's age. I don't see a problem with bringing him in, I guess. Waste of time if we don't resign Okafor though.

i think he's a tad more mobile than nazr, but similar offensive game. more smooth than aggressive. he's 6'11 ish so he's certainly got size. he's better than harrington, but i would rather we spend our money on someone more suited for pf. najera would have been a good fit. too bad he's gone. tuiraf would have been a good fit, but maybe not at 18 mil for 4 years. man mullin loves to spend cohens money.

This would be another pathetic patch job to our PF issue. Did you guys check out his stats? Francisco is a NO NO. His FG % was around 34% for last season, and it's not much better in other seasons just as uninspiring. :oops:

COME ON!!! If this team EVER gets serious about having another quality, starting-level big next to Okafor I will be in a state of shock for several weeks. I beat this drum last year until I was fed up with our lazy-ass front office. Then they go out MUCH later and get Nazi, which looked good at first glance but was not the answer. He and Okafor are too much alike. We need a 4 that fits the new-NBA game. We need rebounding. We need a 4 who has range but can still get tough inside.

Please...I'm feeling sick. Why do I try to care?? :roll:

Elson is pretty crappy. Hes also someone you kind of settle on.

I would honestly guess that Ryan Hollins could, at the very least, match his production given Elsons playing time (his 16 minutes a game career average).

I'd like to see the Bobcats go after the Wolves' Ryan Gomes. I'd love to see this team land Kurt Thomas.

I agree about Gomes, If Twiggy played 16 minutes a game he would foul out every game and have 3 goaltending calls against him per game

Elson has been in the league about 6 years so I would say he is a little younger then Nazr, probly about the same age as Mek or Hammer

Elson's 31. Came out of California in 1999 drafted by Denver, but went overseas to Spain until 03-04.

Hollins will be better than him, I'd say.

I've seen some of Elson with Denver, and a lot with San Antonio.

Elson has very good mobility for a 7 footer (or close to one), is a significant leaper, has a relatively average mid-range shot, not a bad rebounder, effective finisher at the basket, decent defensive player. Makes dumb plays (not more than a few or anything) at times as a trend, though.

Like with anybody who can guard Dirk, combined with somebody solid protecthing the basket behind him, Elson can really guard Dirk because of his combination of height, length, discipline, and quickness. He combined with Duncan defending the baskt shut Dirk down in November of 06, and in another game this past when season for a 5-6 minute stretchn, when Elson came in for Oberto, Dirk went quiet because Elson was on him, and Dirk was playing well before that. Defending Dirk doesn't mean much in the east, but it's unique and something I've been impressed with.

Actually Elson is notably more agile than Nazr, and Elson is not as good a shooter, passer, or back to the basket player as Nazr. Elson can at most score on a hook shot, but one on one is better favored against mis-matches, smaller front-court players (which I think is usually when he takes it there). Elson will occasionally try a turn around jumpshot which he shouldn't take at all unless it's going to be easy for him to take it, and seems to miss it more than he makes it

I wouldn't say he's crappy at all, but he is a somewhat above-average role-playing big man.
