POST CAMBY ERA/ WHATS NEXT?

Post#1 » by lilconti1511 » Wed Jul 16, 2008 7:13 pm

so after the nuggets basically gave away camby it is apparent that the nuggets plan to re build. If u the fans were in the FO what would be your plan of actions next?

i don't think the nuggets plan to rebuild. this move saves them around 40 million bucks (according to espn) and IF (and this is a big if) Nene will remain healthy next season this isn't the worst move the nuggets made. A.I.s contract will end after next season so this will leave the nuggs with some capspace for quality free agents.

nene as a center is a better defensive (and offensive) option than camby. i think any nugget fan knows this. camby is a great shotblocker and helpside defender, but he can't guard any player around the league 1on1 ;)

let's hope that this move will translate in a motivated nene who will increase his stats next season dramatically with increased playin time :) and hunter should see some playing time now too ;) i don't think we are a worse team know, really.

First things first, resigning JR Smith.

Next, seeing as we are rather short on players, ild hope we would use our bi-annual exception and MLE to fill some needs in either Bigs or at the point guard spot.

Just trolling a bit....

Do you guys think this was done in order to make a serious run at Okafor or Josh Smith. I am not sure what your money situation looks like after the camby trade....but is this a possible scenario?

Nope, we still need our MLE (or at least part of it) to sign JR. I don't think Okafor or Josh Smith will agree on something less than 3 mil.

I would not be opposed to signing Chris Andersen. Helps replace the hustle and defense that we are now especially lacking with the loss of Najera, and also gives Andersen a chance at a fresh start in the town where he began his career. He always brings energy and seems to be a fan favorite wherever he goes.

I think since we have JRs bird rights, we can offer him whatever we want without using the MLE.

i'd like Elson, Chris Andersen, or Kurt Thomas... who would be good fits for the team.

That is my understanding and we still haven't offered him anything that I am aware of. He will probably take the qualifying offer and bolt after the season.

signing chris anderson would provide the most entertainment. kurt thomas would provide the best defensive presence. that being said, the birdman would sell more jerseys so i wonder who the nugs fo would want more. hmmm...i wonder.
When Vinny Del Negro sends in his taxes, he sends blank forms and includes only a picture of himself, crouched and ready to attack. Vinny Del Negro has not had to pay taxes ever.
