Tinsley trade idea.
Tinsley for Eric Snow, and a pick?
Why would this trade not work out for everyone?

Re: Tinsley trade idea.
I assume the Pacers are the ones giving the pick, because as far as I know, no one (maybe MEM) would give even the last pick in the draft for a team killer like Tinsley.
Besides, with Delonte and Boobie, why would CLE want to take on Tinsley's deal without getting some form of compensation?
I don't see this happening.

BTW, I still think Tinsley for Kenny Thomas is the only deal out there. If Tinsley is traded for someone better than Kenny Thomas, I will be really happy.

Re: Tinsley trade idea.
If I were Bird, I'd be ready to trade JT for a bag of Cheetos. If I were able get a pick and Snow, that would more than meet my needs. Unfortunatly though, I see JT having to be bought out. I don't believe I have any backers on this but I think teams believe that we will buy him out if it comes to that. When a guy is thwarting fans, I don't believe I could find a price tag that is too costly to get rid of the problem.

Kenny Thomas for Tinsley is not bad but I honestly think we can get more for him (or less depending on how you look at it) if we wait a bit longer.
Imagine spending 20 million at the PF position and only having Murphy, Thomas and Baston to go to. Kind of scary isnt it?

Tinsley for Snow sounds like a salary dump, which is fine but if we could get any value I would prefer that. The Cavs have talked about getting salary cap relief due to Snow retiring due to injury. Eric is done playing in the NBA for all practical purposes.

Tinsley 3 years left
Thomas 2 years left
Make sense for both teams. SAC doesn't have a backup PG. SAC has an overload of PF's. IND wants to get rid of Tinsley and is shopping for a backup PF. Mikki Moore would be who I would want for Tinsley but SAC won't give up Moore for Tins after Mikki's comeback season last year. Either way I like Thomas for Tinsley.

There has been some talk about miami being interested in a shawn marion for ron artest swap. what if the pacers got in on that trade?

The Pacers get shorter (but a little bigger) contract than tinsley's but also unload williams to bring the roster down to 15 players.
The Heat get artest and a starting point guard, IF they are willing to take on the tinsley's salary, as well as a young athletic prospect at the 3/4.
The heat exchange artest for marion and unload thomas in the process.
Not positive miami would be on board, but maybe they would gamble on tinsley. thoughts?

Re: Tinsley trade idea.
How is that better than Tinsley straight up for Thomas? Williams is treading on thin ice, but that doesn't mean we're giving up on him, either. I would think he would bring us more back for Tinsley rather than making it harder to trade him.

Shawne is available in any Tinsley trade. teams are countering with Foster and we're standing firm for now.

Re: Tinsley trade idea.
Sorry, I didn't explain all of my reasoning. I didn't say that deal was better than tinsley for thomas, but I don't see the kings taking tinsley anyway. They want to dump Thomas' bad contract. Why would they take on a comparable contract that runs one year more? I was suggesting the other trade as an alternative. I included williams to miami to make numbers work and also to give the heat more of a reason to take tinsley.

Re: Tinsley trade idea.
Ok somebody explain something to me. Why on earth would anyone bother to trade for Tinsley at this point? I understand that he isn't worthless, he is a decent PG, who I think would make an ideal back up for the right kind of team. And I'm sure there are a number of teams who could use his services. I guess my point is, EVERYBODY knows we are going to buy him out. He isn't exactly worth trading for. If a team really wants him aren't they just going to wait till we buy him out and sign him for a heck of a lot less than they would have to pay him if they traded for him?? So again I ask (seriously) Why would any team bother trading for him when they can just wait till we buy him out?

May i ask your source for this? Is this true fact or just an opinion?
Back to the general discussion, i don't know much about Kenny Thomas, besides of his last season in Philly and his first two with the Kings, since 76ers and Kings back then played alot on National TV. Back then i always thought Thomas was a great player. He was Amare-like but with less skills but i always thought he was a great player. Last season i watched a Kings game on National TV and when Thomas came in, i was like "oh wow, wheres he been" i thought he was hurt or something but realized he just fell off the face of the earth later after checking his stats online.
I wouldn't mind getting Thomas. Potentially he can bring in more then a Al Harrington to the table. Worse case senerio is he brings little to nothing, which is still more then Jamaal Tinsley because he wouldn't bring in all the negative stuff.
Which makes me ask, how is Thomas' background? Good guy? I honestly don't know and really don't feel like searching it up since it's not exactly a legit rumor. lol

No clue. You're guess is as good as mine. Except, few teams, like Kings would prefer to deal for him if they want to sign him, since they can drop some dead weight in the process (Kenny Thomas). I don't know why anyone in this league would want Tinsley though.
However, there is alot of indication from the media that there is a demand for Tinsley, thus, i think it's good that we have discussions for him.

Re: Tinsley trade idea.
They do this if they have already spent the money. This why trades like Gadzuric and Jeffries have been discussed. They have almost identical contracts. One of those teams could either pay the $21mm to Gadz or to Tins. If they waited for us to buy him out, they could probably get him for less pay, but they'd still have to pay Gadz or Jeffries or whoever.
There's also no guarantee we'll buy him out. It seems to be a foregone conclusion, but it won't be sure until it actually happens.
Finally, if the Pacers do buy him out, then the number of teams interested in him probably increases, meaning that if a team 'really' wants him they'll have to bid against others, and it won't be the vet min signing that everybody is assuming. If they 'really' want him, they're going to have to trade for him to be sure they get him.
I'm not convinced we'll actually be able to get a deal done, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Re: Tinsley trade idea.
I love that Kenny Thomas for Tinsley idea. I've been checking out the trade checker, and yah, Sacramento is the closest with Kenny and Shareef's huge contracts.
I doubt Shawne's on the block, though. Yes, he's on thin ice but after a good performance in Orlando, Larry will most likely keep him in Indy (unless another off-court issue arise). Seems to me that this would be his make or break year with the Pacers.

Re: Tinsley trade idea.
I don't think they would deal Shawne Williams unless it's for another player with a similar situation as him, a "near" bust in the NBA, like a J.J. Redick. I can't think of too many others, but i think you know what i'm trying to say. lol.
Other then that, i think you're right, and i don't see a deal like that coming up. I think they have put the pressure on him and i think they will just take the wait and see approach, hopefully he plays to his potential and becomes a core player of this team. He has the chance this season to really break up, it's in his own shoes.

IF we could get a salary dump for Tinsley, we'd have gotten the absolute best case scenario to happen.
We're not getting a solid player in return. We're not getting picks. We're hoping not to take on a worse contract. That's all.
The Cavs won't give up Eric Snow's contract. That's going to come off the books for them. We might be able to convince them to do a Tinsley/2nd rounder for Damon Jones/Billy Thomas/Lance Allred. That works salary wise, and Thomas and Allred are non-guaranteed, but included to make it work financially. Damon Jones isn't valued at all by the Cavs, and they get a 2nd round pick as some incentive, though I fear it would take at least a 1st rounder for them to really think about it. The cost of Tinsley wouldn't be too bad as they'd still be able to remove Eric Snow's contract from the books, and would end up closer to the luxury tax line than they are now.
