Oden's pretty much a lock for 30 mpg... and he's already got one of the best off-hand's in the league. He'll be able to convert at a decent rate at the line and he's a monster on the offensive glass. He has all your basic post moves... To suggest that he won't be a solid offensive presence right away is to deny the basic scouting report on the player. But playing 36 mpg isn't a requirement of any kind... look at Tim Duncan over the last half-decade.

Uh, Tim Duncan has four rings, ten all-star appearances and is a three times NBA finals MVP.

Greg Oden comes off a serious injury, will get his first NBA action of his life on a team loaded with offensive talent.

You're giving me a scouting report on Greg Oden. I know he's a decent ft shooter, I know he's a great rebounder. I just don't think he'll get enough touches CONSISTENTLY in his first year after surgery on a team with Bayless, Roy, Webster, Aldridge, Fernandez and Outlaw. He'll EVENTUALLY develop into a consistent go to guy, but not in his rookie season.

People should not underestimate coming off a serious knee injury that required surgery. Especially being a rookie.

Guys like Beasley, Mayo and Love are in a different situation. They're on three of the worst teams from last season. They can go for individual numbers and afford mistakes. Portland wants to be a factor in the playoffs next season.

Kind of like Durant and Horford. Horford averaged 10/10 on a 36-win playoff team with offensive talent. Durant got the green light and could do whatever he wanted, he was THE MAN and the Sonics didn't give a damn about winning games. Durant won ROY honours, averaging 20 points on 40% shooting.

My prediction is that Oden won't be Rookie of the Year. We will see if that prediction comes true as the season unfolds. He will be a solid contributor on a talented Blazers team, but he won't put up monster numbers.

Wow you completely missed my logical insinuation. To even be able to attempt that amount of free throws, an individual must be adept at doing something other than shooting. When you stated that he can't do anything but SHOOT 3's, I proved you wrong by showing his FT attempt numbers. You know how most NBA players get fouled? It usually involves attacking the basket or the paint and being able to take your defender off the dribble consistently. Which Gordon did...All season. With a sprained wrist. Answer me this: How could he attempt all those free throws if he only shot 3 pointers? If you have ever even seen Gordon play, you will know he is much more skilled than a one dimensional 3 point shooter.
Edit: Oden will win ROY based on impact but will still put up stellar numbers while being named to NBA All Defensive 2nd Team . Im guess 14-10.5-2.3 area. Beasley will be in a close 2nd

Christ, you'd think I suggested Oden would score 20+ as a rookie...

Man, all I'm saying is that the timeframe involved is still a lot of time. And touches don't all come from isos. If he's mobile and on the floor for 30+ mpg, he's going to get 8-10 shots, minimum. That means he'll be a double-digit scorer and if he's also rebounding and defending well, he'll be right in contention for the ROY. More importantly though, even without being an offensive focus, he might still score 15 ppg.

I believe it's going to be OJ Mayo. He's going to chuck up a lot of shots in Memphis with Rudy Gay and we saw what happened with Durant last year.

Well yeah when you look at it like that Mayo probably has a good shot.

Memphis doesn't have any real offensive options besides Gay and him.

If i'd be a Memphis fan i'd be concerned about the young players developing bad habits without any kind of veteran leadership but at least they should shoot ALOT . ( Memphis only 3 veteran players are Antoine Walker , Greg Buckner and Marko Jaric )

Veteran leadership leadership on the court and/or on the sideline is important . Memphis has to get out and get that . Rudy Gay already started showing pretty bad habits last season they really need someone the young guys respect that start cutting into them and the ones of the other young guys.

Will everyone stop adding fuel to the fire that is memgrizzlies' fellate-fest with OJ Mayo?

The guy obviously allows his bias to control his judgment.
