Bogut Bonuses still not known/Salary NOT FLAT though

Post#1 » by Sigra » Fri Jul 18, 2008 9:56 am

It is friday and we still don't have informations about that? GAD said that he could have it wednsday I think. And now is friday. Few of us asked about this in Bogut thread but without answer from GAD. I am geting nervous about this. I think GAD knows details but doesn't want to share. The question is why? I am afreid that most people here would hate that conditions for bonuses and that's why GAD has been told to not talk about that. I may be paranoid but as of now I think that bonuses are easy to achive. Hope to be wrong though.

GAD is also a little slow with Lue's contract info. Doesn't mean there is something nefarious going on, just that he hasn't been able to get the info as quickly as he thought.

Key word: could

I was figuring I'd have it today already. I've been tied up with a few things myself, which hasn't helped.

I do not know yet myself. So it isn't that I'm not wanting to share. I will post it here within an hour of finding out I imagine.

I'm still waiting om Lue & Allen's info and it looks like the info on Bogut's performance incentives aren't available to me through my normal channels (I have some other channels I can try but might have time yet today).

However, I did find out (continued)

(continued) one thing of interest.

Bogut does NOT actually have a flat base salary of 12 mil each year, as has been reported.
Per a league source, the structure is actually 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 mil.

Sorry for the delay & 2 part message. Posting from phone

So his deal is 5/$65M before bonuses? That's not good in my opinion. I'm fine with $12M as the high end annually but $13M for Bogut is overpaying.

Is there a thread that has the luxury cap ramifications of Bogut's deal, that we can look at and see how how this change in info affects it?

I meant to type 10, 11, 12, 13, 14

Mental error combined with lack of copy and paste in Opera Mini browser.

Sorry!

FWIW Hoopshype have it listed as -

10, 11.05, 12.1, 13.15, 14.2

$60.5m for 5 years. Not sure how accurate it is but that's how they've listed it.

Source - http://hoopshype.com/salaries/milwaukee.htm

ETA - They've also got Allen listed at $1.5 for 1 year and Lue listed at $2.5 for 1 year.

Hoopshype is garbage for salary info. Never use them. Hoopshype is good for their rumors page though. They do a god job on that.

Shamsports is the closest thing to reliable public salary website.

Anyway, my Bogut salary info comes from the league office.

Yeah, hence my disclaiming 'FWIW' at the beginning of my post :D

I re-titled the thread. Seems to me to be bigger news that his salary is not flat as was previously reported. I'm not sure I like that.

I liked the flat idea PP, but it's the same amount of money and is the usual way things are done so it doesn't really change the deal for me. I don't think a guy in the last year of his deal making $14m is much harder to move than a guy making $12m if it came to that, in fact some might argue it's easier as it's a bigger expiring. The last year is the only really significant rise on the $12m that was reported and of course the first few years are cheaper.

I'd prefer a flat $12M each year as well but as long as the base deal is 5/$60M I'm fine with that. If Bogut continues to improve and reaches his full potential there may never be a point in the deal when he's overpaid.

Now we just need to see what the bonuses are beyond the ones Ian Thomsen reported.

I believe in Detroit most if not all the deals done by Dumars/Hammond were of the escalating nature.

McDyess and Amir Johnson are flat, FWIW, but the big deals all escalate.

Wow this is pretty big news. Why couldn't we wait until next offseason? Ugh.
