I hope they don't match. Too much for him and our cap is awful. No thanks.

I'll be shocked if they match. And I can't wait to hear folks booo him on his new team. Hopefully they'll let him go with good wishes.

I really think we'd be making a mistake by letting C.J. go, even at that price. The kid played really well when he got chances last year and he has all of the tools to be a very good player. That being said, I don't think the Jazz will match, and if they don't I'll be wishing him the best. I really like him as a player and a person and that won't change. He deserves a real chance to show what he can do in this league and I'll be very excited for him whenever he gets that chance, whether he's playing for us or not.

I don't believe the jazz will match, but I also think they will regret it. CJ is still ONLY 21 and he has show definite glimpses of being very good. I honestly, don't know why we need a guy like harpring for 6mill, but can discard a promising talent. Now if Harpring was in "his prime" then I would understand, but even Harpring supportors would admit he is at the down swing of his career. Anyways, I wish CJ luck and hope he can finally show his potential.

I dont count us out not matching yet, instead of signing a free agent we may just give cj the contract and then start moving him in, but it doesnt help that he hasnt played in the revue for 2 straight years.

The Jazz would be very wise to match this offer. The Jazz know that Almond is not athletic or long enough to ever compete at a high level in this league. I think in 2 or 3 years Brewer and CJ are the SG/SF for the Jazz. I think we should look to move AK now for cap room and a shot blocker. (Lafrenz, Pryzbilla for AK?). I think we would be very well positioned with Brewer and Korver or CJ starting at the wings, and then having Harpring and Korver or CJ backing them up.

If we don't match this offer we will regret it. I think CJ will ultimately be a more complete player than Brewer will ever be able to be offensively. CJ is very athletic and he is long. Almond is not long, or athletic like Brewer and CJ. Matching CJ will also lower what we will ultimately have to offer Brewer to stay later on. I.E. If CJ's contribution over the next 2 years starts to equal Brewer, or exceeds his production...Brewer will have a hard time expecting more than $3.75M a year. If we don't match, then Brewer will likely get the full mid-level to a $50M contract as he will be our only young and athletic wing.

Good for CJ. I can't see the Jazz matching.

Oh, and I'm sure the typical Utard Jazz fan will boo CJ.

Sorry last post was my 13 yr old son venting some spleen. I'll miss CJ - he seemed like a genuinely nice guy with genuine talent, but we have no room for him on the roster, and no room under the cap.

Best of luck CJ!

Well I posted this somewhere else, but it my belong here instead. This is just my two cents on the CJ situation...

I too think the Jazz may match! I know people right now are disappointed that CJ didn't play in the review and therefore don't care if he leaves but I just think he is to valuable of player for the Jazz not to match. He reminds me of when we didn't match for Mo Williams. CJ has been with the Jazz for the 3 years; he knows our system, and has shown that he can play in the NBA. He just needs playing time. After watching the Revue game tonight, I don't think Almond will be as good of a player CJ is. Yes, he is a great offensive player and all, but he lacks in other things. Also, he is older than CJ already and he is barely beginning his NBA experience. I just don't know if he will be able to learn them as quick enough as the Jazz would hope. My suggestion would be to match CJ's offer and trade Almond since his stock seems to be high right now. Perhaps to someone like Philly who has said they are looking for a shooter to spread the floor for Brand. Maybe we can get Marreese Speights in return, a promising PF who the Jazz were looking at, in return as a possible replacement in case Boozer bolts next summer.

CJ definitely has the potential to be better than Brewer. It may or may not happen. I'd love to keep him, but not at that price, considering our already enormous cap issues.

That was one of the greatest decisions in the history of our franchise. Williams is a decent player, but not worth the money he's being paid now, and he wasn't a very good fit for us.

CJ, on the other hand, is a much better fit. But we should still probably pass on him, given our cap issues.

I for one want the Jazz to match. We have spent 3 years developing CJ and I would hate for another team to see the fruits of those labors.

Obviously with our bad cap situation this is not going to be easy. AK and/or Harpring need to be dealt.
Honestly I would rather have CJ for 4/$15 than whatever Harp is making. He is getting steadily worse every year while CJ is getting better.

Brewer could expect a lot more than 3.75 regardless. IMO Brewer is one level from being a above MLE player. Really if Beno and Mickael Pietrus are getting the full Mle Brewer is probably a 7 million a year player right now.

Obviously, if there was a way to straight-up swap CJ's contract for Harp, I'd do it, given how much longer Miles has left in his career compared to Matt.

But how are we going to deal Harpring without getting a contract back? Matt only has value to teams that are contenders or near-contenders and are looking for an additional piece. None of those teams are under the cap.

I suppose we could try to trade for an expiring, but I'm still not sure who our partner would be, and it could still put us in the LT this year.

We really don't need the extra salary. Save up for Millsap. Besides we have enough depth without him:

Kirilenko/Harpring
Brewer/Korver/Almond

Maybe we'll sign Tadija Dragicevic or other guy from our summer league for cheap. Lets face it, Miles wasn't playing a big role on this team for a while.
