OT: Dark Knight

Post#1 » by Luxury » Sat Jul 19, 2008 1:56 am

NO SPOILERS PLEASE.

I just watched it earlier and I love the characters, plot, storyline, and everything about it. I'd probably rate this the best superhero movie as of today because it was amazingly balanced.

I'd give this movie a 9.5/10.

Now back to the point of this thread, rate this movie from 1-10.

NO SPOILERS PLEASE.

Just wrote a pretty extensive post on the community board.

8.5 -- the only thing from keeping it from being almost perfect was the excessive length. Trim it down to a lean two hours, rather than a bloated 2.5, and you're looking at a masterpiece.

9, Incredible movie, I am a big batman fan, but being unbiased, Luxury I agree. I think this is the best comic to movie conversion there has been yet. It truly captures the sadistic nature of the Joker, and Batmans alter ego is played really well by Bale the way he uses a different voice as Batman etc. And I dont think 2.5 hrs was too long, it had me gripped like Lakers v Suns. To many short movies are made these days, this actually has the content.

i completely agree with this, i would also rate it a 8.5. i think this movie is filled with ingeniousness and maybe some more editing would have helped.

Some fool is selling tickets on Craigs list for 50 bucks a ticket. There are suckers out there all the time.

It is a dark night. Warriors now have the energy man on there roster. Ronnie is gone. We did not match. We all knew they were not going to match. I was just hoping at the last hour they would. Now we are a big man short. Good lucky RT, glad you got the money, but sad we could not have been the team to give it to you.

Where are these 0.5's coming from.

You guys can give it 10 different numbers between 1-10, but you have to go to the decimals.

Looks like this movie is a slam dunk. I did not see the movie yet, gonna wait 'til the kiddies burn thru all their tickets. Gary Oldham thinks Heath will win an oscar for his performance as the Joker (Best Supporting Actor I'd assume). Do you?

with all the hype around heaths performance, i thought he lived up to it. his portrayal of the joker was simply amazing, in fact he stole the show. at the end of the movie i felt like joker was the main character and batman was the supporting.

seriously it was a bit too long, i thought it was gonna be over like 5 times before the actual ending happened. I give it a 8 overall, characters where great but i didn't like the chick playing rachel in this one. I agree with the other poster that the Joker was the main character, sucks that Heath died :(

I'd rather have it too long than too short. And everybody has different opinions not only about length. I give this movie 12/10. Deep3cel, I doubt this film will be forgotton in 5 years, people still remember the 1989 Batman movie with Jack Nicholson. And this one blows that out of the water.

How about a simple thumbs up from me. :P

It was awesome. Didn't mind the length at all. Heath Ledger did an awesome job as Joker. Hopefully he gets Oscars recognition this year.

Going to see this at 10:15, I'm a huge Bale fan; it's nice to see the guy get some recognition, even though it took a superhero movie to do it. So far I've heard this is on par with "Heat", which was a huge crime epic and one of my favorite films of all time, I can't wait to see it.

Right now I give it a 9... I usually have to see a movie about 3 times to have an unbiased rating for it though... The afterglow for new movies tends to make people rate it a bit high, but this seems like one of those movies that you would appreciate more over time and a lot happened in that 2.5 hours so that gives me another reason to see it again...

It was near perfect though... Action scenes are very dark and its sometimes hard to tell whats going on but the story was damn good.... Its hard for me to say it was the best "super hero movie" because it really wasnt your typical superhero movie... It wasnt your Iron Man, Spiderman 2 or X-Men 2... This movies main character was a villain... Heath Ledger made this movie... After seeing it I was trying to think of all my favorite parts, and they were all Joker scenes... Heath Ledger is a phenomenal actor... Rest in piece... if he gets an Oscar then it will be well deserved

i for one love long movies...for 10 bucks a pop.

better 30 min too long, than 30 min too short...ironman ran long too but they did(jon favreau) a great job of developing the plot and the characters...imho to spend the extra 30 -45 minutes on that makes a story way more believable...havent seen it yet, but christian bale never disappoints.

what do you guys think about the old movies? i loved michael keaton, thought he the dark twisted parts nailed, but have grown to dislike tim burton over the years, his flicks always feel half-baked to me, somehow.

it seems that these christian bale versions are staying closer to the dark knight/death in the family comics which were my favorite batman comics ever...
