Re: Golden Era ATL Draft Thread (TrueLAFan up in 8th)
With pick #155 of the Golden Era League, the Golden State Warriors select 6-3, 190 G Eric Snow out of Michigan State!
Stats and awards:
2001/2002 season
12,1 ppg (.442/.111/.806)/3,6 rpg/6,6 apg/1,6 spg/0,1 bpg in 36,5 mpg. 43-39 team record.
2002/2003 season
12,9 ppg (.452/.219/.858)/3,7 rpg/6,6 apg/1,6 spg/0,1 bpg in 37,9 mpg. 48-34 team record.
All-Defensive Second Team.
With pick #156 of the Golden Era League, the Golden State Warriors select 6-8, 230 PF Kermit Washington out of American University!
Stats and awards:
1979/80 season
13,4 ppg (.553/.642)/10,5 rpg/2,1 apg/0,9 spg/1,6 bpg in 33,2 mpg. 38-44 team record.
NBA All-Star, All-Defensive Second Team.
1980/81 season
11,4 ppg (.569/.628)/9,4 rpg/2,0 apg/1,2 spg/1,2 bpg in 29,0 mpg. 45-37 team record.
All-Defensive Second Team.
I'm glad to add 2 great defensive stoppers/guys who don't need many shots to the Warriors with my last two picks. Eric Snow is a consummate team player, very efficient passer, outstanding ball-thief and defender, glue guy with extremely high basketball IQ - a year ago record 35% of NBA GMs voted him as the active player that will make the best head coach someday! Despite being only 6-3, prime Snow can guard both backcourt positions and is a player whom Kobe called his best defender. With Finals appearance under his belt, Eric brings invaluable playoff experience. He's used to play next to AI, so should be even better next to bigger guard who's both less ball-dominant and trigger-happy than Iverson in Tony Parker.
While Kermit Washington... I don't want to boast about "The Punch", but I'll say this: I wanted very much to add some bruiser/enforcer/great bigmen man-to-man defender to my squad (obviously I already have Zo, but needed someone whose fouls are less valuable). Who's better in that role than outstanding rebounder and defender which even Artest or Oakley wouldn't want to mess with?

Re: Golden Era ATL Draft Thread (MythBreaker up in 8th)
WIth our final two picks, the Washington Bullets take
Jamaal "Silk" Wilkes
Byron Scott
Wilkes is a consumate professional. A SF by size and game, he swung to G as a defensive stopper against big guards and to PF for both the early Showtime Lakers and the NBA Champion Warriors. Smart, efficient, capable of 20ppg seasons and with 2 NBA All-defense team awards, a tremendous glue player.
Scott was another Showtime player who sublimated his ego for team success. Capable of playing both guard spots, he guarded the opponents' most dangerous guard protecting Magic Johnson. He provides us with a another smart, savvy vet who also was capable of averaging 20 ppg and with tremendous 3 point range.
