But Jordan's always been provocative and inflammatory when discussing reasons why he isn't winning; he's a pathological competitor and Kwame was definitely not mentally ready for the NBA at the time. Kwame's body of work (pardon the pun) has included a clear committment to post defense and improving his body, which displays plenty of work ethic... the question is how much basketball IQ he has and whether or not he is working intelligently on his game as opposed to just working hard. He's a simple player, not a bad one nor one with terribly poor work habits.

I've been reading your board and kwame is not a cancer, ignore that poster. If you were to poll Laker fans you'd probably get a 50/50 split on if we'd take kwame back. it is a shame he was drafter #1, dissed by Jordan, and got the bloated contract because it meant he would always underachieve.

I personally really liked Kwame and he was very popular amongst the Lakers. The one game where he got booed, Kobe made some statements pretty much dissing the LA fans after the game, FIsh stood up for him too. That's the only time I really recall Kobe saying negative comments about LA Fans; he said the team would back Kwame no matter what.

And if you can get him for the LLE it's worth it just for all the small hands jokes you can make about him. The guy literally has abnormally small hands. if your PG throws him a bullet pass, that's an automatic TO.

Kwames problem always has been, and always will be a guy with little hands. As long as he has those tiny hands, you are going to have to make the PERFECT pass to him and he is going to have to go right up with it. Anything else on offense and it will be hit or miss. But that is not what we need.

Kwame will come in and be the best post defender on the team and will be very useful on certain nights.

Its guys like him that we need to fill out our bench. As long as he is cheap, he is a good pick up.

I stand by all my statements and predictions. If you think he was lazy, inneffective, cancerous on those competitive, playoff teams with guys like Mike Jordan, Phil jackson, Kobe Bryant, Gil Arenas around, just wait until he expereince one of our patented 2-14 months that we always seem to revert back to.

Losing tends to bring out the worst in people. If Kwame is only set to be a 3rd string backup, is it really worth it to bring him here when he has a history of behavior, work ethic issues just for 4ppg 4rpg averages off the bench?

I don't understand all this talk, we have the chance to finally sign a defensive big that can play defense and have great upside. If we can sign him for 3-4 M$ why are we even discussing it? Can you show me a better alternative on the FA market?

Don't expect him to become the next Mutombo but sure he can help the team better than the backups we have right now. There is a reason why he was starting at LA with Bynum already on the team. They guy is athletic, can defend, rebound, block shots perhaps a little limited offensively but if not he would not be a FA.

Unless we really change the whole team and instead of resigning Smith and Childress we begin trading, I don't see a better option at C position so my answer is YES PLEASE SIGN HIM NOW!!!

Kwame couldn't beat out Jason Collins for PT with the Grizz. Jason Collins. Think about it. The Grizz still lack depth at the 5 and never hinted at even offering him the minimum. Kwame was playing for a contract last season, but you would have never known it - that should tell you all you need to know.

I don't think the fact that Kwame was not interested in playing for the Grizzlies says anything. I can't say I would be too motivated to play for that team either.

FWIW, everyone saying that his hand size is the problem are wrong.

Kwame's hands, while small for a guy his size, are still quite large in general. His problem is grip strength, his abject lack of knowledge on the use of leverage in the post and that he rushes. All that leads to him dropping passes because he does stuff like go into his shooting motion before he makes the catch or he gets bumped out of position by his defender, etc.

I'm like 9, 10 inches shorter than Kwame and I can palm a ball just fine and have been able to do so since I was 5'6; Kwame's hands are noticeably larger than mine are now at their largest. It's not an issue of size, it's totally "how you use it" here.

It says everything. The guy was fighting for a contract, no matter who he was playing for. Now he's going to be fortunate to sign a minimum deal.

There are now rumors that Kwame Brown may sign in LA for the veteran minimum. Please ASG, step up and at least try to ink him to the LLE of 1.9M per season for 2 years. That is considerably more than the veteran minimum, gives him 2 more years of pension accumulation, and a shot at considerable minutes to earn more at the end of the deal. For use it give us that defensive backup C we desperately need. It's a win-win.

That would be hysterical, if Kwame came back to L.A. for cheap. That's be a big boost to their frontcourt.
