What happened to the Pacers??

Post#1 » by magicfan4life05 » Sun Jul 20, 2008 1:30 am

Was it Artest destroying the team?

Image

Was it Reggie Leaving?

When did stories of arrests and suspensions become the norm in the great basketball state of Indiana?

Was it Larry Bird messing up the team?

Was it the curse of Isiah Thomas firing him for no reason (lol this is a legit statement at the time)

Image

Was it thinking Jermaine O'neal was a max/franchise player when he truly wasn't?

Image

This team was a perennial playoff team for many years, made it to the finals in 2000, and as recently was 2004 won 60 games, but losing to detriot in the ECF.

But now?

This place has gone from BOOM BABY...MILLER FOR 3....

Image

....to stories of their players in trouble...YET AGAIN...:(

Pacers' Williams In Trouble Yet Again

and tinlsey doing fishy stuff outside of bars.....(off topic, but seriously i remember this dude getting triple doubles in his rookie year and was supposed to be a top 5 pg or at least 10 but he just got his contract and started doing this

Image

and threatening fans with dustpans in detroit...

All we hear is everything other than good bball news from Indy....they traded their most recognizable player in Jermaine..and now have a nice young team to build with.

But when will they ever become righteous (playoff team and no more drug/gangster/arrests stories) ?

was what was this man doing on the team circa 2007 and where is he now? why has he even signed?

Image

so many questions...so little time....but who has the answers?

Image

The fans of Indiana deserve better and Mr Bird, you are on the clock to restore this great franchise now that your footsy buddy Donnie is not by your side anymore!!

Image

THE PACERS NATION WILL RISE AGAIN!!!

Image

Image

Now maybe you don't like the stupid pictures posted, and that's fine, but what's not fine is the dark cloud hanging over conseco field house....they must become righteous again, because stories of these antics that we hear about must stop...

As God as my witness, I pledge to do everything I can to bring the sunshine back to Indiana, I will do anything and everything to bring the pride back to the state Bobby Knight Dishonorable contaminated...I will do it, but the first step is to believe...and we can SO HELP ME GOD!

A rough period of about 4 years due to having an unusually large number of numskulls on the team. We're finally putting those days behind us with J.O. gone and Tinsley not returning, and bringing in good character guys like Ford, Hibbert, and B-Rush.

This one's easy. Ron Artest destroyed that team. :)

They resort to crime because there's nothing interesting in Indiana.

I have to admit, I stopped reading that a quarter of the way through. However, if you want the real answer, a bad choice of character.

It was Austin Croshere's fault.

Too dramatic. They built their team around three idiots in Jackson, Artest and to a lesser extent O'Neal.

Too many bad character guys on the team. That brawl signaled their downfall.

Only half of the teams can win.

Don't forget Jamaal Tinsley. Wait...Tinsley's still on the team??? In that case, Jamaal's an outstanding citizen who brings a lot of positive things to the basketball court. Please email your team's GM and politely ask him to look into trading for the Tin Man.

Team Logos

Post#15 » by breignchile » Mon Jul 21, 2008 5:09 am

Ever since the O'Neal trade my friend and I have logged some serious hours with 2K8. We have simmed so far that real players are hard to find (we are currently working on the 2018-2019 Raptors). With so much time spent playing the game you are going to notice some pretty odd things (like Bargnani turning into an allstar). I don't know if there is some sort of rule, but just about every team logo contains a basketball somewhere. Including the old SuperSonics, there are eight teams that do not have basketballs somewhere in their logo, they are: the Bobcats, Nuggets, Rockets, Grizzlies, Bucks, Timberwolves, Trailblazers, and Spurs. That means 22 teams have worked a basketball into their logo. Eleven team logos are essentially just a basketball with the team name: Cavs, Pistons, Pacers, Clippers, Lakers, Heat, Nets, Knicks, 76ers, Suns and SuperSonics. If I were to name teams based on their logos the Cavaliers would be the Cleveland Sword Ball. Indiana would be the P Ball. Miami would be the Flaming Ball and Ring. It's ridiculous. In addition to the eleven teams with "ball" logos, there are five teams with animals or people playing or holding basketballs: the Hawks, Celtics, Hornets, Raptors, and Wizards. A hornet dribbling a basketball, that's just insane. Is it a super-sized mutant Hornet, or a super-tiny basketball? I give credit to the Trailblazers for blazing a trail with their "connected squiggly lines", very abstract. Sure this is a ridiculous post, but so is the idea that over 70% of NBA logos contain a basketball. just for comparison sake MLB has eight teams with baseballs in their logos, the NHL has four teams with sticks in their logos, and the NFL only has the Jets with a football in their logo. Yes, this post is ridiculous, but so is the fact that so many teams have basketballs in their logos. Stop the madness NBA, say no to balls!
