A few things to note for people watching the RMR.
1. Corbin didn't let anyone go out there and just play, he made a lot of quick substitutions.
2. The Spurs have played in another Summer League already, so they already have 5 or so games under their belt playing together.
3. It was the Jazz' first game, there are usually kinks.
4. This is probably the worst RMR team the Jazz have had in 5 or 6 years.
Fesenko really really looked terrible. He had some nice blocked shots, but if he's not doing that he was completely lost. He was repeatedly getting beat on the defensive end by players who shouldn't be beating him. He wasn't grabbing rebounds, and even his rotations were pretty bad. He's a good passer, but seems to have 0 offensive ability otherwise.
Mo Almond looked a little uptight, he was trying to do way too much, and I don't know if he is just a terrible passer or just doesn't like to pass but that definitely isn't a strong point to his game. There were quite a few times when it seemed like instead of taking the trouble to pass the ball he simply threw it up at the hoop, and even then he didn't shoot all that well. He's a far better low post scorer then he appears to be as a long distance shooter. He seemed very good however at drawing fouls and finishing after contact. He had quite a few strong baskets with a foul which is a good sign.
Koufos couldn't stay on the floor, my guess is Layden makes them a little bit more free to play this game tonight then Corbin did. But the good thing is Koufos is out there trying, he wasn't lost by any means, he just got some tacky fouls to begin the game and it hurt him.
Other notable players; Brazleton looked pretty comfortable running the point, as did Kruger who did some very nice things, however I don't think either of them are as good as Price which means they probably shouldn't be in the NBA.
Hiram Fuller is back again and I could really see him at least sticking through pre season with the Jazz. He is 6'9, plays a lot bigger then he is, is a good shot blocker, and works hard. Seems like a Jerry Sloan type player. He doesn't get down on himself, plays a good team game and hustles. He's 27 right now, so he won't be getting a ton better, but he may be a valuable back up Big for a few spot minutes if someone gets hurt or something.
Other then that everyone was pretty much your normal crappy RMR player.
I expect Fes to have a good game to re-enthuse us on his potential, and I think Mo will settle down. Koufos should also be solid, I don't expect him to dominate, but he should be a solid player.
