Would the Boston Celtics win the Gold?

They still have more talent than any international team and they got the chemistry which was team USA's main weakness. Well?

a number of teams could win the gold.. team chemistry >>> a bunch of stars thrown together.. and no im not saying an nba team would beat the olympic team (though they could), its just the point that the us team in recent years has had 0 chemistry/players that fit wit eachother while the other teams (argentina, etc) train together for years..

It all depends honestly. The Celtics I think could, same with the Pistons and maybe the Lakers if Gasol played for them. It just depends on the team makeup and how well they adjust to the international rules.

Before the playoffs - Yes, definitely.

After the playoffs - Not very likely.

The team was just too inconsistent and slipped up too many times to say they would be able to win anything after the group stage.

Possibly but they couldn't afford a bad game after the group stage, due the fact thats it's single game elimination. As D-31 said they can't afford to be inconsistent.

The Celtics, well mostly Ray Allen were inconsistent in teh first two rounds. Against DET they re-found their grove. And in LA even Ray Allen tied the most 3s made in the NBA Finals record and you know everything had to be running on full cylinders for that too happen.

Before the playoffs when they rest/walked through the last month of the season- no because they would of played like they did and inconsently. At the end of the playoffs yeah since everything was back to running on the highest gear.

And also is it the current Celtics or the ones who won the ring? Because right now, other then Allen and Pierce if hes hot, they don't have any good shooters on that team and that could pose a problem them in international play.

This last Celtic team would easily win in the Olympics. They'd probably win 4 out of 5 times against the US squad that'll be representing us next month.

No.

The only team that would win the gold is the Spurs.

Rondo would get killed by other PGs.

They would easily win the Gold. And even if they had to play the U.S. team I think they would have a decent shot at winning.

Not if they have to same amount of drive as the recent US teams.

Based on talent it shouldn't even be close. As already mentioned above it comes down to motivation.

NBA players play for an NBA championship, not an Olympic gold medal.

They would have better chance of winning than this USA team.

Well, they are better than the US team already. Everyone underestimates the chemistry/team factor which the current US team has yet to show in any serious competition. So yes, the Celitcs stand a chance.

Without a doubt! I think any playoff team would win the gold. As others have mentioned, team chemistry and balance are way under-rated. I mean honestly, all those International teams are so much less talented then Team USA and they've beaten us these past year. Seriously, I remember some of the teams that beat us or gave us trouble had guys in their starting line-ups who were scrubs in the league and couldn't last.

Enver Nuggets would get embarrased by a team like Greece.

Are you kidding me?

The reason that the Celtics did a good job on Lebron is because they could sag off to double and triple team him in order to keep him out of the lane. However, when you have Kobe etc. you can't do that any longer. It's a bit different in Fiba since most teams are going to run a straight zone.

i think they they would have a good chance.

one of the big reasons why the foreign teams with less talent can beat the american all-star teams is chemistry.

we send over a team that has played together for a few weeks.

they send over a team that has been practicing together for years.

i feel that the chemistry and pre-instilled offensive and defensive systems would help alot.

No, because Garnett and Allen wouldn't go to the olympics.
