Jason Taylor traded to the Skins!

Post#1 » by Lane1974 » Sun Jul 20, 2008 11:12 pm

For a 2nd rounder in 2009 and a 6th rounder in 2010

Well played, Tuna, VERY well played

adios JT.

ASHBURN, Va. - The Miami Dolphins traded defensive end Jason Taylor on Sunday, getting two draft picks from the Washington Redskins.

The Redskins gave the Dolphins a second-round pick in 2009 and a sixth-round pick in 2010.

Washington executive vice president Vinny Cerrato said Taylor is expected to report to Redskins training camp on Monday.

The deal came only hours after the Redskins lost starting defensive end Phillip Daniels to a season-ending knee injury.

JT's legacy diminished with his trade demands this offseason, IMO.

Flash, he wasn't going to play here anyway, so getting a 2 was a big coup for the team
plus add in the fact he would have been a distraction (at the least) and a cancer (at the worse), and he is very slim now, around 220-230, what position would he really be suitable for in the new regime's 3-4?

He has 2 years left, he admits, so getting a top 50 pick next year for him was about as good as you're going to get.

Washington ain't going anywhere, sorry JT. If I were them I'd put the full court press on for Favre.

I am VERY pleased.

2nd rounder for a 34 year older who has constatly reiterated as of recent that he's only going to play 1 more season.

Good money.

JT will always be a fin. But yeah, very good coup.

not gonna play here? -- did it get THAT bad where he was going to sit out or something?

i know his play wasnt going to make or break us this season, but the way he left was just very weird.

lets face it JT wasnt part of our future plans, he wanted to go somewhere where he could at least "dream" about winning.......I hope he does well because he was a big part of what was good with Dolphins football over the course of his career.

the way Parcells drafts I like a 2nd and 6th for JT.

ok, at the very least he would have played here, maybe next year too, then retired, while we go 5-11 and 7-9. Now, we get a 2nd rounder for him, and hopefully that turns into a long term starter.

I didn't want Taylor traded, but if he was traded, I wanted a pick around a third/fourf round. Second round pick is too good to pass on.
For a long time it gave me nightmares, witnessing an injustice like that. It’s a constant reminder of just how unfair this world can be.I can still hear them taunting him, Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids.I mean why couldn’t they just give him some cereal?

At first, I didn't think we got enough, but when I saw the 6th and realized that the Skins won't be that good, and the fact that the Phins won't be that good, I like it. We need to see the future and JT wasn't part of it.

i dont think it's a bad move, per se, to whomever posted that.

we weren;t going to be sb contenders with him anyways, i just feel the way this whole thing went down was a bit weird, thats all

that 2nd rder is going to be a HUGE help for us in the coming future

Yeah because we all know second round picks always work out. Chances are a good deal of the 2nd round picks in 2009 will probably be out of the league before JT.

To not receive a proven player back sucks.

The NFL is a different animal when it comes to trading star players and getting return. With the contract sttructers, hard cap and talent pool. This was a great deal for the Fins'.
