Lets get Josh Smith

He wants to be traded out of Atlanta. He is a restricted FA so Atlanta should do a sign and trade with us.

Barbosa, Diaw, and 2010 1st round pick for Josh Smith. What do you say?

First of all, we don't have a 2010 First Round Pick as of now. It was traded in that ridiculously one sided Kurt Thomas trade, remember? And to your proposition of acquiring a Josh Smith, who by the way would completely be REDUNDANT for us because we already have one of the premiere power forwards in Stoudemire, NO. Agreed, getting him isn't necesserily bad long term, but we are in WIN NOW, and he doesn't help us do that. Trade takes away our only 3 pt threat in barbosa, and leaves us without a SF other than Grant Hill. Josh Smith CANNOT paly the SF because
a) he cant shoot the 3
b) he cant shoot the 3 and
c) he cant shoot the 3

Shaq and STAT would be doubled teamed by the opponents 3 and their man on every possesion because Josh wouldnt be able to hit anything, sort of like how Rondo's man always helped out on Pierce. If we were to get rid of SHAQ and run&gun again, then yes, this would be perfect, but we aren't, so this isnt happening.

Haven't we had a post on this already? I think he can play the 3, and is more of a tweener than a PF IMO. But as sd1306 said, we take one of our few 3pt shooters for a guy that is not a good outside shooter. Hes ok, but not what this teams need. Plus, we already have Stat.

We all would love Smith, but ATL wouldn't do that deal and we've just got Barnes
