Good decision Boki! He will make $4,75 million net per year. That is much more than the ful MLE...
Nachbar has agreed to a three-year contract with Dynamo Moscow, a deal that will pay the former New Jersey Nets small forward $14.3 million, he told ESPN.com early Monday.
The contract, worth 9 million euros, will include affordable buyout clauses after each season to allow him to explore the option of returning to the NBA.

Re: Bostjan Nachbar Returning to Europe
"The NBA had better be careful," Nachbar said. "European teams are offering a lot of money. It's much more, considering there are no taxes, than what I could make signing for the mid-level exception."

More money, closer to home, no 82+ games per season, so more rest,...this is an easy choice for an european player.

His comment is very interesting. He's the first player I've actually heard talking about the difference in earnings.

Damn, it will start out like this but soon big time players will come over. I'm talking about players that could get 10 million here signing for 20 million over there.

Re: Bostjan Nachbar Returning to Europe
This is a serious issue that you better believe the NBA is keeping a close eye on, or at least I hope they are. Putting your head in the sand and pretending that its not a big deal is just foolish no matter how petty it seems right now. Heck, huge companies have been ruined because they couldn't see the danger coming. No too long ago, American car manufactureres had nearly 70% of the north american car market and they didn't take seriously the foreign can manufacturers. Look where we are now.
Back to the NBA, the top 10% of players in the NBA will unlikely be going anywhere. They probably make enough money and the raise they get going to Europe might be only marginal.
The real worry is about those middle players (of which carlos delfino and nachbar are part of), which is approximately what 50%/60%/70% of the NBA. These guys can probably get more money, plus more recognition (as they will likely be better players) by playing in Europe.
The lower tier of players (10/11/12th men on the team) will probably end up staying in the NBA because European teams will not want them.
So, what you could have is a league with a handful of incredibly good players and the over whelming majority as horrible players. Lebron could average something like 50 points a game
This trend is dangerous and the NBA better keep an eye out on it.

Re: Bostjan Nachbar Returning to Europe
The thing is Nachbar wasnt likely to get more than the Bi Annual exception anyways. He is going back to Europe. I think it would mean a lot more if Childress goes. He is a player that could actually command the MLE here.

Although I am scared Lakers_4_Life will come out of nowhere and make us Europeans look bad once again, you have to admit that this is the start of a troubling trend for the NBA.

This is a great point that I hadn't really considered. Euroleague alone is 51 games at least (53 games max--14 regular season games, 30 top 16 games, 4 final 4 games and a maximum of 5 quarterfinal games). Depending on the domestic league (ACB for example, 34 games), this is only 85-87 games in a season, as opposed to a 102-110 NBA season.

It is an interesting trend. In all honesty I think it can only help basketball. As european leagues grow, so will the interest and talent in those countries. The larger talent pool, the better for all leagues. Euro teams will start filling out with their own domestic talent, leaving American players available for the NBA and even adding more international talent to the NBA pool.
I'm not worried for now because the best euro players are still coming to the NBA and the NBA players leaving for the euro teams aren't even MLE talents.
I have a hard time not being very cynical after what Lakers_4_Life tried to pull for sixteen pages, claiming that the euroleague is taking over in three years, and throwing out all manner and sorts of fallacious arguments.

Re: Bostjan Nachbar Returning to Europe
Well, if Slovenian reporters know anything about math and economics, the contract would be worth at 41 million $ for three years. That's 13.7 million $ per season, which really is crazy, if you consider that is one million less than what Lebron, Dwade, Melo or Bosh earned this season.

Re: Bostjan Nachbar Returning to Europe
Nachbar only had one good NBA season, maybe two as I posted in my other thread that got locked, but $4.75 mil with limited or no taxes should net him basically what the MLE would have had he stayed in the NBA...
(Although Nachbar would never have received the MLE so I guess it's a moot point, he's making more by going overseas plain and simple)
Until a star player in his prime, or a young promising player with star potential, leaves the NBA to play in Europe this isn't really a big deal... It's also interesting to note that the players who have left the NBA to go back to Europe Delfino, Nachbar, etc. didn't really have anything to lose from a marketing standpoint since they aren't exactly raking in the endorsement money.

My European salaries are catching up to the NBA thread was locked because people were so worried how bad they would look. After everyone saying I was crazy and stupid. But not I stand by what I said. Give it 3 years and you will see Europe be considered the premiere league for paying players.
Everyone making fun of me in that thread is going to look foolish.

Yes, "in 3 years Europe might be considered the premiere league for paying players" (your words not mine) but it WILL NOT BE the premiere league in terms of basketball talent or entertainment.

Re: Bostjan Nachbar Returning to Europe
Well, I guess it is true. He got 6 mio € per year not 3. So, that makes $9,5 mio net per year. Crazy money!
There is an interview with him on one of slovenian sites. This is a short translation:
Link: http://www.rtvslo.si/sport/modload.php? ... c_id=40269
The team is supposedly also planning on adding another SG from the NBA...
That is really amazing offer. No wonder he is still in shock. I am!
Good luck, Boki!

How long has this deal been brewing?
Less than 24 hours. I am still in shock.
Was the money the only reason?
No. The ambitions of the club are huge. They want to win russian championship, russian cup, ULEB cup and qualify for Euroleague next season. And David Blatt as coach is another reason.
Did you have any special demands?
Yes. I wanted to have an NBA clause after the second year. I still want to return to the NBA. I was in Vegas working out with Brezec when the offer came and no other offer was even close to this one, so I said yes. It was a life time opportunity and I am set for life with this one.
NBA offers?
There were quite a few in the last few days. ATL and GSW were the most serious but the offers where not even close to Dynamo Moscow.

Yes he got $41 million over 3 years gross. I posted it but a mod locked it. The American fans are panicking already. I told everyone this would happen. I can't believe they locked my European salaries thread. I owned everyone in it.

Sanjski prestop Nachbarja v Moskvo
Primož Brezec bo v naslednji sezoni igral v rimski Lottomatici.
