Re: NBA Summer League: Who has impressed?
I viewed every Blazers' summer league joint except the last one. And while there is no reason to hate on Bayless, I wasn't super impressed either. The top draft picks are featured in these games, with their numbers called almost every time down. Plus they get name treatment from the whistle happy summer league refs.
I was mildly suprised at his foot movement on defense, however for the most part I didn't see the range, and certainly didn't see the distrubution. I could care less who you're playing with, a good point guard, especially one who feels he should have been drafted in the top 5 facilitates for his teammates...he makes things easier for lesser players. There were times where he could of easily racked up assists by dumping the ball off on drives because he was recieving hella attention. But he simply had his mind made up whenever he went to the hoop like a *scorer*. He flops and screams like a natural scorer, he gets to the line like a natural scorer..I don't see a point guard. IMO he was drafted right where he should have been....the good thing for Portland is they won't need him to be a natural lead guard.
