I always thought Barnes games resembled Marion. He's not nearly as athletic but they play the same way. He brings rebounding, hustle and is a decent shooter for a very low price. Good signing for the Suns.

Barnes really messed up.

After the Playoffs last year he was talking about MLE money, no team would give it to them so instead of getting a less offer(but still very good) he decided to go back to the Warriors in order to play for his contract.

He got the minimum 1 year.

He should have settled for the best deal he had last offseason.

I expected him to at least ask for the LLE this offseason, so I think that the Suns got a very good bargain for him.

good signing by the Suns..

it's obvious that Barnes doesn't care about winning though, or else he wouldn't have signed with Phoenix..

Good move for both sides. Phx gets a solid role player for a very reasonable price. Barnes get's to play with one of the best PG's in the game in a contract year. Look for him to up his value and get something around the mid level next off season.

I can't believe he signed for the min. Really pissed Ainge didn't sign him instead. We have a backup role for him and the Suns don't have a bigger window then teh Celtics. Should of signed him instead of Tony Allen for double that price and 2 years. Dammit.

I can't believe PHNX actually got a geniune steal, usually it's been them trading players away due to financial concerns and such.

Nice signing by the suns. I wanted my team to sign him. Especially for that price. He can carry shaq's bags now.

I absolutely love Matt Barnes, he's definitely earned my respect as one of my favorite players in the league.

This guy was epitome of the Warriors in 06-07 season: proving people wrong and rising to the occasion. He's one of the BIG reasons why Golden State had a true "underdog" vibe going on in the playoffs... I mean, you're watching the Playoffs and you're wondering, "who the hell is that random guy with all those tattoos, making all those three's and owning the MVP Dirk Nowitzki and the rest of the Mavericks??". Even if you already knew who he was, you get that weird feeling knowing that a 'scrub' like that can have such a big impact in a series with such confidence.

Matt Barnes Highlights during the 06-07 Playoffs.

The guy had no success at all before joining Golden State. During the offseason before the 06-07 season, he was about to head on a route to join the NFL since he had received numerous training camp invites from NFL teams; he basically gave up on NBA basketball. One day, he's playing a pick up game of bball at some gym, and Don Nelson notices him. Nellie tells him that the Warriors could use a guy like him on their team. Matt winded up being the last person to make their roster, but ended up being a key player throughout that whole season.

When he played for Philadelphia earlier on in his career, Maurice Cheeks saw Matt practicing jump shots in practice. Mo told him, "Matt what are you doing? Your game belongs in the post, you're not supposed to be out in the perimeter shooting jump shots, you can't do that". That moment was embedded in Matt's mind, he'd always remember how his coach never had faith in abilities. Matt only made a combined total of 19 three pointers in his whole career... but then once he joined Golden State, he ended up making over 100 three's in the 06-07 season, along with numerous 3s in the upset against the Mavericks. It's funny because when Matt and the Warriors played against his former team (76ers) in the regular season, Matt hit 7 threes against them; he looked at Maurice Cheeks after he made his 7th three, and grinned at him.

And it's crazy because the Warriors had the whole "We Believe" slogan going on in the Playoffs, when Matt tattoo'd the word "Believe" on his neck when he noticed his basketball career was on the decline (before joining GSW).

I'm fine with Baron leaving.. Baron knew the Warriors weren't going to give his injury prone ass a contract extension; so instead, he found a team dumb enough to pay him $65 million over the next 5 years.

And you forgot the worst mistake that Mullin made... Chris Mullin's real big mistake this offseason was letting Patrick O'Bryant go so easily; the Warriors will regret that move 2 seasons from now when POB proves everyone how good he really is on the court.

POB's a long athletic 7 footer with good post moves, good mid range shot, and a sky hook; I expect great things from him as a Celtic.
