That was before the possibility of getting Childress arose.

They can easily afford both

yeah but there's no point in signing both because Ricky Davis would be getting 7 million dollars to come off the bench (Childress will be signed to play the 3 and Lynn Greer plays the 2). Also there's a quota of 6 foreign players in Greece and Olympiacos already has 7.

Because he played great last year after he was moved to the SG position. Signing Davis to move Greer to the bench really wouldn't make any sense, because Greer has shown he is a good fit for the team.

No one really wants Davis... So once again I don't consider this a big deal. The Josh Childress signing if he did indeed sign with whoever it was that offered him a big bucks, now that's something you can make a big deal about.

Agreed. Childress is a competent offensive player and an above-average defender, but most importantly, he's still young and hasn't touched his prime.

Davis seems like an 'empty-stats' guy who can put up decent numbers but at the detriment of his team's overall well-being. He's also a below-average defender. After his performance with the Heat last season (which highlights the things I said about him -- seemingly good numbers but little impact), as well as the fact that you can't just put him on your roster and expect him to gel, I just don't see any team handing him the MLE. This was a smart move on his part, and I can't say the NBA is any worse off.

I'd take Davis on my team.. as a backup.

I don't know how hes suddenly a "cancer", and doesn't do anything positive for his team.

A lot of teams hes been on have been losing teams, which is not his fault.

I think too many people harp on that "self rebound" which is stupid but oh well.

His career PER is 15.2 (the league average). So, in essence, he's an average offensive player for his career. Last season, he managed a PER of just 12. Defensively, he's below average.

The MLE is the average NBA player's salary. Basically (in a very simplistic view), this player should be average on offense and defense. Davis is lacking in half of the two requirements for his career, and last season, he wasn't particularly 'average' at either. I'd say his league-worth is about 3mil per year, currently.

Ricky Davis has been the 2nd best player on every team hes been in, and hes never been on a good team...all we learn from that is that hes not good enough to be a sidekick on a good team....hes more of guy that should be the 3rd or 4th best player on a team..or a 6th man...

Ricky Davis is a good ball handler and passer..hes a very good shooter..he can defend SGs.....negative is he has bad shot selection and cant guard SFs, which he was asked to do last season..im not dissapointed in his play at all last season..

This isnt directed at anyone, more in general..its kinda tiring hearing these cliches....people just following what everyone else says..."cancer", "not a winner", "doesnt want it bad enough" .. im not talking about just about Ricky Davis, its about every player thats been on bad teams..

He hasn't "suddenly" become a cancer. He's been one for 5-7 seasons now.

you know what. that is actually a reasonable contract.

the MLE starts at 6 mil a year, and i think that he is pretty much an MLE talent.

add in an extra mil to move to europe, and that is actually a very reasonable contract.

Agreed!

For the season he went through last season, he whining and complaining about his role, minutes, play, position, teammates etc would've been justified, but he did NONE of that, and went out and did what he was supposed to when asked of him. -- Not a peep or anything.

The hate for Davis is seriously overblown, and it's down right silly.

He was one in Cleveland and we basically gave him away to Boston because of it.
