Want Captain Jack and Big Trey Al?

Post#1 » by ecuhus1981 » Tue Jul 22, 2008 12:30 am

I have a thread on the Trades and Transactions board (Warriors Rebuild? Nets Compete?) that outlines this deal:

Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington for Stromile Swift, Keith Van Horn, Marcus Williams, Josh Boone and Maurice Ager

Regardless of how you thin the Warriors would react to this deal, would you do it?

Keep in mind that
-- both SJax and Al expire in 2010, so they do not affect our capspace plans
-- we could use veteran help at SF and PF, to ease Chris Douglas-Roberts, Yi Jianlian and Sean Williams into their future roles

Tell me what you think as well, and feel free to share your opinions on the linked Trades forum thread. You can also see what GSW and other teams' fans have to say about the deal.

Sign me up aswell, keeps us competitive these next few years while mantaning the whole ''cap space for 2010'' scenario.

I would miss Boone, but a deal like this has to be made if offered.

Gotta do it. how lomg do you guy's think that Thorn will wait before he pulls the trigger on a trade like this?

Is he waitin to hear from every team first?

Is he waitin for a team to get desperate and make a trade?

Thoughts?

GSW wouldn't do it and it makes the Nets too good for my tastes. I don't see any reason to trade for older talent right now. I'd rather just leave the minutes to the young guys.

GSW..I agree, not both...but I dont see why they wouldnt be interested in moving one or maybe AL...how likely I dunno...I also agree I want to see our younger players get minutes...but you make this deal with a smile...

Personally, I've said it before, I'd try to get a package of Harrington/Bellineli for something like Stro/Marcus/either Sean or Boone. At some point in the next year or two, I think we're gonna have to part with one of them (meaning Sean or Boone). I'd rather try to get a guy like Al along with a prospect too if we could. Bellineli honestly is lethal. He reminds me of a young Manu Ginobili. I feel Bellineli may never get a real chance in GS thanks to the guys they got their now. That would allow us to help CDR possibly become more of a 3 as opposed to a bigger 2-guard. I'm sure over the next 2 years, we'll be able to find another PG prospect in the draft and a trade like this would then give us a quality prospect at literally every position plus keep our cap space for 2010 with some room to spare for extensions or 1 more decent free agent on top of a max contract player.

I'd do that too..

But as long as Don Nelson is coaching that team I doubt they'd trade him.

Exactly. Belinelli is not for sale. None of their youth core (Ellis, Belinelli, Randolph, Wright, Beidrins) is goign to be dealt.

Honestly, If I'm giving up 2 of our young guys with upside, I'm demanding a young guy in a need position from the other team if I were Thorn. I hope he has the same logic. I'm not giving up 2 young guys from our team just for a Rental Vet at this point.

They are both on two-year deals, and they fit perfectly into our rebuilding plans. The Warriors fans I've heard from are willing to swap Swift for Krstic, and give us Perovic in return. But that's the only young we would be able to pry from the Warriors. It's a bit stingy to ask for more than that.

At the end of the day, we're getting a 20/4/4 dude, and a 13/5 sharpshooter, for capspace, an expiring, and two solid young players. We can't ask for more than that, this deal is sweet already.

Yeah I've been following that thread. I'd be 100% supportive if that deal went through. We can package Swift someplace else.

Now we gotta get some of our garbage out in the S&T for Krstic. at least one of the following must not be on our roster game 1 of the season:

Stromile Swift
Trenton Hassel
Maurice Ager

They are NEVER gonna play, there is no use keeping them in a suit all season

WHY, OH WHY DIDN'T FRANK AND KIKI CHOOSE MY GOLDEN STATE DEAL, INSTEAD OF THEIRS?!

You know, GSW fans were much more receptive to this deal than Nets fans believe. There was trepidation, sure, but the chance for the Warriors to reel in big FA fish like Deng, Okafor or Smoove was a big selling point.

Oh well, GS has closed its doors on this offseason, and I'll have to dream up another deal for us...
