Ajinca's knee?

I had the distinct displeasure of being about 15ft from Alexis Ajinca when he feel hard on his knee and writhed in pain. He reportedly sprained the knee but responded to a French reporter as he was helped off (the reporter then translated for everyone else) that his knee cap had slipped to the side and then popped back in. In the few minutes of game I had seen him over the previous few days he looked VERY long and VERY thin and somewhat Shawn Bradley like in his game.

its not like he was going to contribute this year (or next) anyway.

well, except livingston also tore every ligament in his knee. a dislocated kneecap isnt nearly as bad, but certainly worse than a sprain.

If this is true then that would make us trading our pick for Denver's a sure fire dumbass move. It was starting to look like that regardless; this would just confirm it.

knee injuries aside... anjica needs a ton of minutes to develop his game, but i'm not certain ajinca can get playing time in the nbdl. is there an nbdl minor league where we can send ajinca? like the nbfl? does anyone have maybe a ymca league that needs a backup center? maybe he can come play w/ me and my buddies on wednesday nights.

We had to go big at #20 and Ajinca was the best big available.

We could have taken a swing at Jordan, but he is even less refined than Ajinca and shows next to no offensive skill at all.

I'm willing to wait it out a year or two and see what he can do before roasting him.

We could also have taken a "swing" at Darrell Arthur, who would actually play PF and keep Emeka at C. Maybe Arthur won't work out, but I don't think it's clear at all that Ajinca was the best "big." We rolled the dice on a guy who didn't play much because he had great workouts... and now we're reaping the benefits.

Hopefully we already have our average one injured knee for pre-season and everybody else will be healthy at least at the beginning of the season.

I agree we should have taken Arthur; Brown should have known that kidney thing was BS (it was, right?).

We really need production out of that 4 spot this year...not 2 or 3 years down the road. Instead, here we are yet again putting our playoff hopes on May's bum knee.

Unless they really have a plan that gets us a 4 AND doesn't have Duds or Ammo starting at the 3, I'm thinking that passing on Lopez (and then going small with the 20th pick) could really come back and bite us in the a$$ bigtime if they were intent on not picking Arthur. I like DJ, but not enough to give up Crash for him (as he appears to be the trading chip management is willing to part with).

Arthur didn't look that great during SL either. He played 10 more mins and averaged the same amount of rebounds. He shot the ball better - but also fouled like a mad man. And he was considered the better player seeing as though he had a good career at Kansas.

We all knew that Ajinca was going to be a project. I'm actually really suprised that you guys are bashing him so hard already when he's only played 5 SL games - and spotty mins at that.

I haven't seen him play though, so maybe when I do I'll think he's clueless too - but I want to at least give him the benefit of the doubt for a little while.

Maybe Arthur doesn't work out either... but for me this is a pretty easy one, because I went into #20 thinking "anyone but Ajinca," and thought my prayers were answered when Arthur was still on the board. I truly would feel better with a lot of other players right now, not just Arthur. I can still hope for the best, but in the "I'm pretty sure this guy isn't going to amount to anything" feeling I had when people were optimistic about our 2nd round picks (Hollins and Davidson).

Click on the "more videos inside the 'what's new" tab. I watched the entire CHA/GSW game the other day.

I'll definitely give him more than SL, but I can't help but resent that with the moves management made in the draft it most likely will mean the end of Crash as a Bobcat. Maybe in a couple of years it'll be worth it, but I think it'll hurt us in the short term.

Maybe I'm wrong and Crash will stay, we bring in a big bruiser, May will stay healthy, Anjiça will contribute and Davidson will vie for MIP. I'd be thrilled if that happens.

Im not worried. Time and some patients, let him get acclimated, things will be alright, he is a hit or a miss, but if it ends up being a miss, its not that devastating.
