He's a 3/4 guy who can average probably 10-13 points, grab boards, play D, and knock down a long jumper. The Cavs are reportedly pursuing him, and I was trying to see who would be the Cavs' competition for Gomes (besides returning to Minnesota).

Gomes does not have long arms and is not a great defender, he can score but has a very differnt game then posey, decent player, a good sub i dont think a great fit for our needs, nor yours, we both need 3 point shooting from the wing spot I dont recall gomes being great from 3

Actually Gomes added the 3 shot and was a very good defender last year. He got overmatched against bigger 4's, but did fine against the 3/4 you guys are looking for.

With MN resigning Craig Smith it is very likely Gomes is gone. I still think the S/t idea of Scal+future 1st for Gomes will be a good deal for both teams.

I think now that we resigned Tony Allen. I dont think we will make a run at anyone for more than the vet min at SF.

I agree, hence the idea of a s/t or Scal and a future 1st for Gomes. You guys get Gomes without using your salary or the MLE for a guy you just do not use. MN gets a contract (it ends in time for our FA plans) but they also get a future first.

I understand. I just dont think we are that motivated to give up a first round pick. For a player that will likely have a very limited role. Not a good fit.

My vote for Posey's replacement is a combination of TA and Powe. If TA is ready to play at his pre-injury level again we have no issue on the wing.....a healthy TA is infinitely better than Posey, even playing out of position at the 3 spot. And I thought Powe should have been playing over Posey at the 4 spot anyway, so certainly no issue there. Perk could also stand to add a few additional minutes next year, so that helps too. Really we only have a problem if (1) TA isn't healthy or (2) all three guys (Perk, Powe, TA) turn out to be choke artists who can be trusted at the end of games.

As for the Gomes suggestion from Rev Prodeji, I like it, and think it's a clever idea. However, before sacrificing a pick to bring in a 6th man like Gomes, I think it'd be wise to give TA/Powe a couple months to see what they can do. If they suck then no problem, we give up a pick to land a Gomes type player before the trade deadline. But if they're good, we avoid wasting a future first.

considering we have no 1st rnd pick next year i find it highly unlikely we'd sacrifice yet another from a later year for backup sf that stands to play very few minutes next year.
