The owners of the Panathinaikos basketball team the Giannakopoulos brothers own Vianex a large pharmaceutical company. They almost always lose money but the main reason they spend so much is because they wanted to get a share of the Panathinaikos soccer team. Owning the Olympiacos or Panathinaikos soccer teams is really important, it helps promote their other companies and it helps these businessmen in other areas as well. The Giannakopoulos brothers have been trying to get the soccer team for almost 30 years now and they were recently allowed to buy a share along with some other businesses by the team's owners (the Vardinogiannis family).

The owners of the Olympiacos basketball team, the Angelopoulos brothers come from one of the richest families in Greece. Sokratis Kokkalis (founder of Intracom one of the leading companies internationally in technology and innovation with a specialization in gaming technology and one of the richest people in the world according to Forbes) used to own both the basketball and the soccer team and even though he's still the president of the basketball team he has sold the majority of the shares to the Angelopoulos brothers. There has been talk that the Angelopoulos brothers might get involved with the soccer team as well, but I'm not sure they want to.

You have to understand, what you are arguing is like saying the Knicks don't have much money because they have a corporate related ownership. There is a board for the athletic unions. This board of Panathinaikos sports club or Olympiacos sports club. They can choose where to put funds.

What's next, will they go get Latrell Sprewell out of retirement?

You need to learn what sports unions in Europe are. These are not just basketball clubs. They are much bigger than basketball clubs. And soccer which is just one section of these teams is bigger than all 3 of the major team sports in the US combined. Europe has more money and more TV viewers than the US does. You do the math.

Yea I would hope so considering that Europe is a freaking continent filled with numerous countries while the United States is just one country.

Ricky Davis is a good ball handler and passer..hes a very good shooter..he can defend SGs.....negative is he has bad shot selection and cant guard SFs, which he was asked to do last season..im not dissapointed in his play at all last season..

This isnt directed at anyone, more in general..its kinda tiring hearing these cliches....people just following what everyone else says..."cancer", "not a winner", "doesnt want it bad enough" .. im not talking about just about Ricky Davis, its about every player thats been on bad teams..

I know what you're saying, and I relatively agree with you.

If they could get him for cheap (which I doubt), I think Davis is one of the top options out there for another wing-man with versatility, for the Spurs.
