Do we still sign a SF???

I think people are not allowing themselves to think outside of the box at all on this. KG's whole career he has dominated the glass and defensive end playing the 3/4. Yes he did a great job covering the 5 last season but hopefully O'Bryant will limit the need for him to do that. Perhaps the organization made a decision that for his long term benefit he may do better with some bangers on the box as opposed to playing him at the 5 with two SFs.

Perk along with the O'Bryant and Davis should eliminate the need for KG to play center and perhaps open the chance for KG and Powe to play together as the forward tandem with Pierce at the SG. Then you can create a lineup were KG and Pierce can switch off on LeBron.

I can definitely think outside the box. But, I dont see KG playing much SF. I agree that he shouldnt be playing C. But, He is definitely a 4.

I just think we need a 3pt shooting SF for situational use. I am hoping Walker goes to Europe.

I see our lineup as:

PG: Rondo 32m / House 16m / Pruitt 2m IMO, Pruitt will have a shot ro play himself into backup role.
SG: R. Allen 35m / T. Allen 20 m / Giddens Giddens or Walker has chance to earn backup SF.
SF: Pierce 35m / FA SF 4 M / Walker Hopefully Walker goes to Eurupe so we have roster spot
PF: KG 35m / Powe 20m / Scalarine DNP
C: Perk 28m / Obryant 13m / Baby Obryant and Baby could flip flop. Possible late season veteran C.

greg it still seems to me like youre trying to replace posey with another "posey". rather than try to recreate last seasons model how about we just ascertain the talent that we have and create an offense that best uses its talents. last year we were overloaded with shooters which meant a reliance on perimeter shooting to a degree was gonna be how we had to win. this seasons team appears to be shaping up with more athletes so perhaps they design an offense with more motion, more cutting, more backscreens and flashing to the rim. its not like we dont still have eddie house for 3pt shooting. hell its not like we dont still have scal off the bench either. and while giddens and pruitt are probably nto sharpshooters they are certainly capable of hitting from the perimeter. rather than try to fit a square peg into a round hole lets find out what the talent on this team does bet and do that. as long as we keep our defensive intensity i think we'll be fine.

I definitely don't think I am trying to replace Posey with another Posey. If you look at my minutes break down, The FA SF would be playing limited minutes. Which would open up a lot playing time for TA and Powe. Those two guys would definitely make us less perimeter oriented which is a good thing. I just think we need another 3pt shooter for roster versatility. So When our opponents decide to clog the lane against us. We have enough talented permiter shooters to make them pay for it.

So then which FA do you think will want to sign not only for the min but only to play about 5 mins a game?

As of right now we have 11 people fighting for time in what will probably be a 9 man rotation with the other 3 dressed players playing sparingly. If Giddens is actually capable of contributing this year that would make 12. We're pretty much set. (Note: I'm assuming Scal will be the designated towel waver).

Also, I disagree with people who argue against positions, namely Powe is not a C or TA is not a SF. It really is all about the matchups. There are some Cs too big for Powe undoubtedly but there also some Cs that Powe should be fin against (NJ and Tor spring to mind). We'll be fine.

I think the need for another 3 point shooting it a little over hyped. We have three of the best three point shooters in the league in Pierce, Ray Allen and House. Last season Doc wanted the big three to be on the court together as much as possible. This also lead to them being on the bench together. This year, we should see a lot more of one of Pierce or Allen on the court.

I still however would like that tall defensive SF, a Tayshaun Prince type, who can gaurd guys like that. I really got excited when it looked like Green would fall to us, unfortunately that did not happen.

Here is the reality. Assuming Walker is signed, the Celtics have 14 players under contract. We have about 2.5 million of the MLE left. Except for reclaimation projects (Miles) that is not going to get us a lot. I'd love to get Finley but I don't think that will happen. If we had the full MLE Childress might be an outside shot but not for 2.5 mil.

Danny was on WEEI this morning. He said he is done. We have our top nine guys (I'm not sure who they are). He did say players want to come to Boston. Basicly, guys who are not being offered the money they hoped for will take a chance at a ring in lue of cash.

It looks like we enter the season with what we have.

Not sure if George has much left in his tank... He's about 70% of Posey...
He's just not an energy guy..
