Khimki Signs Garbajosa $8 MIllion US Per Season

Post#1 » by Lakers_4_Life » Tue Jul 22, 2008 4:45 pm

Yep, I told everyone this was going to happen. Why haven't the mods unlocked the European salaries thread yet?

Because none of this supports your assertion that the European league would be superior to the NBA in 3-5 years.

Because aside from Childress no one cares about the majority of these players? Seriously $10 million per year for this?! http://www.nba.com/playerfile/jorge_gar ... index.html. Christ overpaying this much is going to wreck basketball contracts world wide.

The Euro leagues signing fringe players to massive contracts is not going to make overseas ball superior to the NBA any time soon.

Yay. How long's it going to take for this guy to grasp that nobody really gives a crap about European basketball?

This is considered backseat moderating. If you continue this, further action will be taken. Please just talk about basketball.

Seriously, it's not even that. It's the fact that we don't get any of the games here. Why care about a league that we can't even watch besides the final games? I'm not one of these people that think every NBA player is better than every Euroleague player, but I just don't care about that league because we can't watch it. Where is Euroleague league pass?

I wouldn't watch even if it was an option. I just don't care. I'm an NBA fan -- I've watched religiously for more than 20 years, I know the players, I know the teams, I know the history. I have absolutely no interest in investing that kind of time, effort and money in following another league, especially one that doesn't operate where I live. The fact that this guy has an agenda to ram his Euro fandom down our collective throats makes me care even less.

Case in point: Some Russian team that's barely a decade old, and plays in an arena with a capacity smaller than many high school gyms (3,500), just offered to drastically overpay an aging Euro with one B-minus NBA season under his belt. And this is supposed to be a sign that the Euroleague is about to surpass the NBA? Insane. Isn't there an International thread for this crap?

Maybe because it's NBA related ??? Those are players leaving the NBA.
Delfino was an NBA player, Garbajosa played in the NBA.. Childress plays in the NBA... players leaving the league is NBA related , where is the Eurloeague talk ??
this is General NBA talk...if you want to talk about your favorite players then go to Team Talk.

This is just stupid, honestly. Garbajosa, 10 million? If he doesn't take this he should be committed to an asylum and studied for years in isolation. I swear, if you threw a couple more million onto that salary you could actually bring in some high quality talent.

Exactly, what I told him a few weeks back, but he doesn't listen to reason.

most of you dont even understand Euro salaries...

10 million PER YEAR? are you crazy?

its 10 million NET, meaning only 10 million for the course of the contract.

something like 6.4 or 7.4 million euro's for 2-3 years makes more sense.

NOBODY IS GETTING 10 PLUS MILLION IN EUROPE

Oh DEAR! How will the NBA replace Garbajosa and Chuckfino?!

On a related note, watched Spain and Argentina game today, Chuckfino still chucks like it's his last game he'll ever play.
