Andrew Bogut (age 24) : 14.3 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.7 blocks, 0.8 steals
Emeka Okafor (age 26): 13.8 points, 10.7 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 1.7 blocks, 0.8 steals

I think I'll take Andrew Bogut, better numbers, and 2 years younger.

Bogut is younger, puts up better numbers, and is more capable of playing the C position than is Okafor.

I'd take Bogut.

I'll take Okafor, because he might be the only big that is utilized more poorly than Bogut, and I think he's an elite defensive big, excellent man defense, and tremendous shot blocker and rebounder.

Okafor, in the right system he could be a 17/12/2/3 C who's elite defensively.

Bogut: +1.6 PER differential
Okafor: +0 PER differential

Bogut does more of the little things which aren't included in PER like: take charges (Bogut 53 to Okafor's 11), facilitate ball movement, and set an inordinate amount of picks.

Plus Bogut is a few years younger and his production was on the upswing the 2nd half of the season (16/10/3/2). Bogut's better as we sit here today.

In the future this may not even a discussion. Bogut has exhibited some offensive ability in other environments (college/international) which inexplicably hasn't translated yet (mid-range jumper, free throw shooting accuracy) while Okafor has not. Bogut forseeably in landslide in the future.

I'd take Bogut because he has consistently improved his game from when he came into the NBA. Okafor hasn't, he's pretty much the same player he was in his rookie year.

These guys are very equal, I think Bogut has developed better, and Okafur has been injured some, but Okafur is more athletic therefore having more potential

Theyre pretty even, so it comes down to defense. I know Okafor is very good, havent seen Bogut enough to judge his defense. But i can say when i watch Milwaukee, nobody has any trouble scoring on them, whether its guards or bigs.

Bogut, I want my center on the court and not injured in street clothes.

Okafor
07/08: 82 games
06/07: 67 games

Bogut
07/08: 78 games
06/07: 66 games

Okafor has been slightly healthier than Bogut over the last 2 seasons, and it's pretty tough to call someone who just played 82 games an injury risk. Okafor has not had injury problems since he dropped the weight he added in 05/06.

Anyways, I'll take Okafor by a hair for his superior athleticism and defense.

Fair enough but I can't overlook the 2005-2006 season when Bogut played 82 games and
Okafor played 26.

You'd be wrong. Bogut missed all 16 games in 06-07 w/ a phony injury because the Bucks were trying to tank. He's never had any notable injuries in the NBA. You're also cherry picking by cutting off the sample just after Okafor was out almost the entire year.

Also, you're trying to argue that Okafor is a superior defender, yet his opponent PER was worse than Bogut's last season.....Okafor: 19.5, Bogut: 18.1. As far as help D is concerned, Bogut averaged the EXACT same # of blocks and FAR more charges. I don't think anyone saying Okafor is a superior defender has a case. You're stuck on reputations.

We had this exact same question late in the season with a vote that I believe Bogut won fairly easily. I guess you could say they are pretty even right now as players - both good defenders with Emeka possibly having a very slight advantage (although definitely not against big centers), Bogut the slightly better offensive talent and passer, the difference being that Bogut is on a big upswing in his career with the Bucks finally realising he should be used on offense, whereas Okafor has pretty much stagnated in his career. Add in the fact that Bogut is more than 2 years younger and has been in the league for a year less and the answer becomes pretty simple. Bogut is also quite a bit bigger and is a true center, Okafur is much more of a PF imo.

They pretty much broke even in their early head to heads last season until their matchup in January when Andrew absolutely owned Emeka by dropping 25 on him. It's Bogut in a close one now, but Bogut very easily for the future.

Give me Bogut. The gap in man defense isn't that big, especially, as noted, against big centers. Bogut opens a lot of things up in an offense by being more versatile. I also think he has a higher offensive ceiling.

Easily Bogut. While I'm not impressed with his slow progression, Okafor has been injury prone and has shown no development in his game since he was drafted.
