I like the move for all parties honestly. He wasnt going to play much for Utah, and with OKC, he now has a chance to get some minutes on a young team and show what he can do. Low risk in signing Miles, with the potential there for a pretty decent reward.

Re: Offer made to CJ Miles
When the Sonic draft Durrant there was talk about him being a POWERFORWARD ... once he add some strength
If CJ Miles becomes a shooting Guard...
1 Westbrook
2 CJ miles
3 Green
4 Durrant
5 2009 #1 Thabeet 7-3 feet of HIM

Re: Offer made to CJ Miles
I think that Durant should stay at the 3 for the rest of his career. With a couple of horrible seasons and high draft picks, OKC should add a post scoring threat at power forward to compete with guys like Duncan, Rasheed, Garnett, Pau, etc.. If they are capable of doing that, i think the best move would be to bring Green off the bench backing up the 3 and 4 positions. Green should still be given around 30+ minutes, but i feel that is where he would be at his best.
Until then it is clear that Green plays better at the 4 then Durant.
And Thabeet is not and should not be the direction the franchise is going to go at center. Memories of Sene will protect them from drafting a player with low basketball iq, low skill, marginal athleticism, but great height and enormous length.

I think that if you play at a high enough tempo that Durant could be a 4 if he continues that add weight and strength (look at Shawn Marion). That being said, I think that if Miles shows that he can be a starter, it would be in our best interest to move Green for either a 4 or a 5 (whichever we don't draft) and play Durant at the 3. And buyer beware on centers especially with our track record on them.

I think we can all agree that he has no business playing the 2, yes?

It seems like you guys have been reading too many scouting reports from the 2007 draft. With Green in the mix Durant has no business whatsoever playing the 4. The only time this will EVER happen is for defensive adjustments when there is a good perimeter player at the 3 and a weak post player at the 4.
And whoever is suggesting that Green is the perfect 6th man is high on life. You don't draft a guy #5 overall to pair with your franchise player as a 6th man. This team has too little talent for PJ to even consider Green coming off the bench.

Our track record with Centers was Rick Sund, not Sam Presti, so we really have no track record there. Trade Jeff Green for a 4 or 5? No, Green can play the 4. Uptempo? *puke* no thanks we want to win.
Durants natural position is the 3.
Jeff Green can play the 4. With his frame he can bulk up to 245 or 250 without losing any quickness.

I'm coming into this season pretty green on Jeff Green, so for all you guys that watched the Sonics last year, do you all think that the 4 is the optimum position for him?

Well, it seems that Utah's 4th string SG is making the decision harder for Utah, with his play in the summer league. Apparently, he has been playing really well. Last night he had 29 points. Hopefully, they will give Almond a vote of confidence and pass on CJ. Here's the link: http://www.sltrib.com/sports/ci_9992824

Oklahoma City will learn today whether it has landed its first NBA free agent.
The seven-day grace period the Utah Jazz had to decide whether they will match Oklahoma City's four-year, $15 million offer sheet to C.J. Miles expires today. If the Jazz decline to match the team's offer, Miles will join Kevin Durant, Jeff Green and Russell Westbrook as the franchise's building blocks.
At issue for Utah is whether it can afford to risk reaching the luxury tax threshold during the 2009-10 season by retaining Miles. -- The Oklahoman
As of early Thursday night, even general manager Kevin O'Connor -- who admits to some restless nights over the past week because of the pending decision -- wasn't sure what the Jazz would do.
"Honestly, no," he said when asked if a decision had been made. "Are we leaning one way or the other? No."
O'Connor did suggest the Jazz would have no problem matching even if Miles prefers that they do not, which is thought to indeed be the case.
"Not at all," he said. "It's a business." -- Deseret News
It appears the Utah Jazz are torn on deciding whether or not to match the four-year, $15 million offer sheet C.J. Miles received from Oklahoma City, a decision which must be made today.
Adding to the quandary, although nobody in the organization wants to admit it, is the play of Morris Almond in the Rocky Mountain Revue. Almond, this week, has looked like a player who's NBA ready. -- The Salt Lake Tribune

Not to make waves, however, could you (and everyone else, for that matter) not use initials? "KOC" could have been a typographical error meaning Oklahoma City. In fact, that's what I thought you meant. Thank you.

If thats true that sucks. He would have been a nice addition and would have been able to grow with the other young guys. Utah has a bit of a crowd at the 2 and 3 dont they?

I wouldn't go into a depression about the loss of one player. Keep in mind, technically Oklahoma City is the youngest NBA franchise (because except for the history sharing, it's like an expansion). These "dream" players will come along. It takes time.
Who knows. Maybe Chris Paul will start sucking because he signed his dream contract and New Orleans will trade him... To the Thunder.

Jazz matching is unfortunate for OKC fans, CJ Miles (who surely would get more playing time), but good for Utah Jazz fans.

Re: Offer made to CJ Miles
Trust me, I'm not going into depression about losing him.lol. All I'm saying is he has alot of potential and if you put that next to Durant, Westbrook, and Green this team would be getting more young talent. It will take time I agree with that. These guys need to establish themselves before people are going to come here. I dont necessarily think we are going to get "dream" players right now. I just think adding Miles would have had a low risk, high reward type deal.
