Are the Rockets good enough to win the NBA Title ....
Are the Rockets good enough to win the NBA Title with this current team next season? Or do you think they are still lacking something?

Landry is ahead of Hayes in the rotation.
And to answer the question, it's far to early to tell. We've won the games in the regular season, put ourselves in good positions with home-court, but injuries, lack of players stepping up, and just overall bad play in the playoffs have been too much a factor to make me a believer. We have more questions to answer than any other playoff team in the Western Conference. We have easily the highest potential of any of them and easily the largest worst case scenario.
1.) Health. I don't think there's anything else that really needs to be said. McGrady doesn't necessarily miss as many games as Yao, but he's constantly playing through some sort of injury or missing games. Yao, though not really injury prone since the past three years were more freak accidents then re-occuring problems but nonetheless he's found a way to get injured the past three seasons. If we want to go anywhere, health first and foremost will be the deciding factor in whatever we do.
2.) We need to see how much McGrady has declined. There was always something nagging him after he got injured against the Lakers. He was playing the best ball as a Rocket up to that point, but ever since that injury, he looked slow on defense, extremely inefficient and easily the most streakiest player in the league. We essentially go as far as how well he plays and really evaluating how much juice he has left at the elite level will also be a BIG factor in what we do next season.
What do I think? I don't think we have enough. Our defense is fine, but our offense is awful. We only have one player that can really create his own shot against a double team and nobody else on the perimeter that can create a shot. I like the Barry addition as he brings shooting, something we sorely lacked last season and another capable ball-handler, but he's not enough if we want to reach our goal as an NBA champ, hell just getting out of the damn first round.
As of now, we don't have a roster good enough to compete with a team like the Lakers. If we can acquire that third scorer without giving up our main core (meaning using Jackson/Francis expiring and Greene/Brooks potential) then my opinion on how we'd match up with the PROVEN elite would greatly change.

Yes, unfortunately it does.
It's a legitimate discussion topic, but it certainly doesn't need to be posted every week. Hopefully a certain someone receives that message.

Re: Are the Rockets good enough to win the NBA Title ....
I think a very underrated aspect of the prospects of the next season is that this is year two of the Adelman Rockets. We saw glimpses of what we could be on offense during the streak and for a considerable stretch during the season we were an elite offensive team. With one year under their belts under Adelman, with the same cast, I can see us finally cracking top eight or so in offensive efficiency. Of course, this is given everyone's healthy...

Re: Are the Rockets good enough to win the NBA Title ....
As has been pointed out several times already, not much point in this thread coming up several times a month, but if we're healthy, we've been a contender every year but 2006-2007. It just hasn't panned out yet. What drives me nuts is how we've almost looked like a different team at times (2007 playoffs, somewhat in the 2008 playoffs, but not nearly as much and can be excused to a pretty decent degree by injuries. 2007 was pathetic though, everyone just gave up).
Morey 2020.

IMO we're a backup PG & backup SF away. The lack of scoring from the bench... or should I say we have absolutely no scoring from the bench.

Re: Are the Rockets good enough to win the NBA Title ....
WTF is this, groundhog day? I swear you made this same thread at least 4 times. What is the deal with you? I'm really trying to understand. I don't usually get upset about internet stuff, but this doesn't make any sense at all...none. Then the worst part is you start all of these threads and polls and you rarely(more like never) even come back to the threads to comment in them. Probably have so many new threads open that you can't keep track of them. I know that several mods have sent you PMs and left you comments about not making topics just for the sake of making topics, but to bring something to the table with a little more substance. I guess you have some kind of compulsive thread making disorder(CTMD) or something and obsessive poll disorder(OPD).
Not trying to be rude although it may be coming across that way, but we seriously don't need you popping in making the same thread topics over and over again, adding the same poll to them and then to add insult to injury, you don't even post in your own threads. No joke, I honesly wonder if you will even see this response. Several mods believe that you don't even visit the topics after you make them. That isn't a good perception for people to have about you. Hopefully it is more speculation than reality.
I mean, you seem like a good guy, I've never seen you go at it with anybody and you seem to be an avid basketball fan so that makes you ok in my book. If you want to contribute to the Houston Rockets board we welcome you with open arms, but you gotta stop hitting us with questions and then disappearing on us. You claimed to have moved to Houston not too long ago and that you're a Rockets supporter, join in on some of the discussions here. We would love to get some of your takes on various things.

No we can't!! We have to discuss this 3 times a week with a new thread =/ Yes every team is good enough to win a championship, but ultimately the NBA and the mafia it represents chooses who goes and who doesn't.
