HOUSTON—The agent for restricted free agent forward Carl Landry says his client may entertain offers to play overseas.
"Carl would entertain all serious offers," Landry's agent, Buddy Baker, told Houston television station KRIV-TV on Wednesday. "There is serious interest in Carl by both other NBA teams and internationally."

Landry was a rookie for the Houston Rockets last season and averaged 8.1 points and 4.9 rebounds a game.

Europe May Become Option for Carl Landry

Houston Rockets forward Carl Landry FOX 26 News

HOUSTON -- The agent for restricted free agent forward Carl Landry told FOX 26 Sports Wednesday playing outside the NBA may become an option for his client.
Landry played his rookie year with the Houston Rockets during the 2007-2008 season.
The Atlanta Hawks lost restricted free agent guard Josh Childress to the Greek club Olympiakos Wednesday. Like Childress, Landry is a restricted free agent. The Hawks could match any offer Childress gets from an NBA club but that option doesn't exist for teams outside the NBA.

Landry and the Rockets are in a similar situation.
"Carl would entertain all serious offers," said Buddy Baker, Landry's agent. "There is serious interest in Carl by both other NBA teams and internationally."

Landry averaged 8.1 points and 4.9 rebounds a game during his first year in the NBA.
"Carl and his agent are doing what they think is best for him and if that includes exploring Europe that is their right to do that," said Daryl Morey, Houston Rockets General Manager.
"We continue to want Carl as a Rocket. We have a difference of opinion on the next steps to get him re-signed, but we have not changed our desire to see him return."

Maybe he can make it thru a 35 game Euro season w/out his knee falling apart.

"...would entertain all offers." Translation-when we get an offer by anybody we will party like it's 1999!

Carl Landry is good enough to help you win a few extra games, but not good enough that you would be scared to face him during the season.

Landry is as good as Leon Powe, who was huge in the Finals for Boston.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

This would seriously be horrible, Landry would be stupid to do it IMO.

Man, his agent is just on crack. Dude's seriously ticking me off. Nevermind what I said earlier, I'd lowball the ***hole too, and down the ante every time he ran off his mouth some more.

You just know his agent is saying Turaif got $4mil,Thomas got $4mil,give us $4mil and we'll have a deal.
And Morey is saying find somebody who will offer you $4mil and then we'll talk. Otherwise you're getting Chuck Hayes money and be happy about it.

Maybe it's just me,but I'm getting the feeling Morey wants somebody to give Landry an offer so he can do a sign-n-trade even if it's only for a TE.

Texasholdem,
Landry got run off the court by a less than 100% Boozer. Perhaps you missed the stretch where McGrady was guarding Okur because the coach had given up on Landry stopping anybody from Utah.

Carl wasn't 100% either, and he had some very positive moments in the Jazz series.

There is not even on reason I can think of for him to say "NO , Carl won't play in europe".
Off course he is gonna say that even if Carl doesn't want to play there.

We will have to see what happens , I will only start being worried once I see someone offer him big money.

Something tells me Buddy Baker is new to the athlete representation trade. Maybe it will work out for him, but his 'tactics' and relationship with the media is drastically different than average.

PS - I didn't look up Buddy Baker so if he is somehow a God among mere mortals in the agent world, forgive me, but I have never once heard of him.

I don't want to see Landry go.

But if he can make more money overseas then that is where I would advise him to go. This is his job, and you go where the money is. He can get more playing time overseas, be a bigger role on whatever team gets him, make more money, develop his fundamental skills, and... he would actually get better endorsement offers. Here he would be a little fish in a big pond. Overseas he would be at least a medium fish in a medium pond.

Is he married? Kids? If not then playing a few years overseas and then coming back for a better contract would be the way to go. You get to travel and see more of the world, new cultures and customs. He is young and still has plenty of years to come back and play in the NBA.

I think he is a great player with a lot of hustle and would hate to see him go, but I live in the real world.
