Is Shane Battier tradable?
Hey, comin from a Blazer fan, I am wondering what the Shane Battier situation is, because we really need him on the Blazers...everything the blazers need at this point...a tough minded defensive player that can guard the opposing teams best player, while giving Roy the rest on defense. (im sure thats what he gives tmac), along with a good 3pt shooter + VETERAN.
would the rockets do something like a travis outlaw + filler for battier?
i think outlaws stock is at its highest about this time. bad thing is he needs the ball to SCORE, something u guys have in tmac...but maybe for the future, or off the bench?
and is donte greene ready to play...start him at SF!
lol

Ew no. Outlaw is an inefficient, high possession user with poor defense. Not what we need at all on this team, especially at the expense of Battier.

We would only trade battier if our goal is to win a championship. so yes. but a 3rd scorer would need to comeback to us

"Is Shane Battier trade-able?"
Did Rose Kennedy own a black dress? Everybody's trade-able. Greg Oden is trade-able. My mom is trade-able.
The question you need to be asking is "what will it take to get Shane Battier?".

ok think about all those traits you just used to describe battier and match some of those with outlaw......... not possible? Thats what I thought. Outlaw plus filler= laughable for battier.

Eh, I would've considered 13/Outlaw for Battier, especially in light of the fact that net-net it landed you Bayless, but we have no need for Outlaw himself particularly. Battier is a better player, and youth at the spot we have in Donte Greene.

Re: Is Shane Battier tradable?
Shane Battier is not above trade talks, but please re-read your first post. You're basically asking the Rockets to "do you a favor" here. You want us to send you a starter and our glue guy on the team for a guy who would likely struggle to find a place moreso than he did on his current team. Also you're trying to convince us that Donte Green, an unproven rookie, is ready to go, so we should ship Battier out to a Conference foe in a move that would make us weaker and them stronger?
I think the Rockets will pass.

Is Battier tradeable?
Theoretically yes,practically no.
The Rockets are ina win-now mode w/their starters. So any Battier trade would have to be for a player that upgrades a starting spot at PG,SF or PF. It's hard to see a team giving up a better SF than Shane for him,so we're really talking about trading Shane for a better PG or PF.
No offense, but your PGs are not an upgrade over Alston for the near future. Now if the Blazers came w/an offer of Aldridge(and filler) for Battier the Rockets charter would be in the air w/Shane before the phone call ended.
I actually think that there might have been a slim chance of a trade before the draft. Martell,Frye, the #13 and one of the Seconds for Battier, the #25 and a future Second had a slim shot at being done.
But there is another factor to consider. Shane signed a lucrative shoe deal w/a Chinese Co. When rumors of Shane being traded last summer surfaced,a delegation from China flew over and supposedly met w/the Rockets owner. Factoring the Yao/China factor and it's even more unlikely the Rockets will take a chance at POing influential Chinese in any way.

Here's some good advice. Until you learn all the things that are so horribly, horribly wrong about what you said there, do NOT under any circumstances attempt to start a business or invest in stocks. Heck, be careful about just buying anything outside of groceries.
For starters, and the sake of actually being helpful here, you said:
1. It's no good for us, it's obviously no good for us, and to emphasize that further, we're going to state that it's no good for us. You want it at a high price?
2. This stock is at it's absolute peak right now, you should buy some!
3. It has major flaws but we aren't going to offer a discount.
4. You don't need it, but should really consider giving us something you need in exchange. You'll gain future potential.
5. Not only do you not need it, but if you got it you still couldn't even use it.
From just three sentences you can get all that, and I probably didn't even catch everything.
Glancing at the rest of the post, you also said
- We really need him badly, pretty please will you sell cheap?
- We're your direct competitors and want you to make us better.
etc.
... Ok I was just about to get harsh again before noticing that your login and recent join date probably means you're only 15, erasing what I wrote, and deciding to let you off the hook for now. I'd still recommend paying attention to those points and asking an economics teacher or something about what some of the flaws in what you're asking are.
edit: While posting this I didn't even bother to look at Travis Outlaw's stats, which don't look half bad. Given what we would be giving up though, I'd want to look at a lot of other stuff before saying anything. The points from before still stand.

What makes you think Portland would trade Outlaw for Battier?
The organization thinks very highly of him. Roy has told them not to trade him. Remember comparing the two players that Battier spent a whole four years at Duke. Outlaws past season is pretty much comparable with Battier's rookie season to put things in perspective.
Battier will be 30 at the beginning of the season. That isn't exactly a great fit with the dynasty the Blazers are trying to assemble. He'd be great to have the next 3-4 seasons though.

I would do Battier for Outlaw and Webster.
But I still didn't see a Blazers fan that will do that , no way we trade Battier for less that that though.
Maybe we will consider Outlaw andFrye if we lose Landry.

When someone makes a bad thread, there's nothing better than waiting for a reply from either moofs or Ribalding. It's like an educated version of MTV's "Yo Momma", except it's actually funny.

I agree. It was the ONLY reason I left that ridiculous Barry's "Anterior" Motive thread open. As bad as it was and as worthy of a lock as it was, I thought that it was so incredibly terrible that he deserved the backlash that was coming while I sat back and did this
